Key Fob Programming Question

Do you have to have at least one key fob that works correctly to program additional fobs? And if so do you have to reprogram all fobs (including current one)? Or do you just have to program new fob(s)? Thanks in advance. 08 TL

The video author states "for interest of this video, I disabled both my remotes". So this does not answer my questions. Can anyone help please?

You program only the new FOB (unlock/lock/trunk), the old one will work fine. It will not program the immobilizer, you'll need a locksmith/dealer for that.

Thanks for the input. But what is the immobilizer please? I assumed programming the new fob by turning off on clicking lock 4 times would fully program the fob, not just partially program it. How do you fully program a fob to lock, unlock, trunk and START?

it's a little chip inside the new key that needs to be paired with the car via a computer. Locksmiths have the scan tool and so does the dealer to program it.

see pics of chip in keyfob here:

go to a honda dealer, they are normally cheaper and may charge 30 mins of labor.

I bought a few key fobs from eBay for my tl and MDX and the video I posted work like a charm.

I'm going through the same process to replace a lost key. Do you know if the currently available NXP transponder HT2DC20S2OR is the same Part# (or compatible) with 3G TLs. This one is 256 bits.
