Key Programming question

hello all

new to the forum here. search results were negative on my question, so here goes....

i just got a certified 2007 TSX from an out of state dealership. they gave me one key and fob, and the valet key. so im missing the second key and fob.

i went to my local dealership to get a second key. naturally they said they could do it, but they would need me to bring all of my keys, because if they program one, they must reprogram the others.

this sounds like BS to me. but i have no clue. thoughts?

btw, they quoted me $67 for the key and $45 for programming. they did not specify if i was going to be charged $45 for programming each key or all keys. this sounds like stealership prices to me, but not as outrageous as ive seen in other posts.

thanks for any replies.

The first step of reprogramming of fobs is erasing all memory of the fobs from the car memory. Then the car "learns" each fob. So you need to have all fobs present at reprogramming.
I have not had keys programmed to the car but I suspect the procedure is the same. All knowledge of the keys is erased from the car and then the car "learns" each key.
The keys don't get reprogrammed - the car "learns" about each key.
The charges you have quoted are not too bad.
