Stuck transmission
Stuck transmission
Just putting this out there.
While driving on a road, after coming to a stop at a light, with no warning and no displayed codes, the car wouldn’t shift out of, I assume, first. I managed to get back to the apartment, but it never left the stuck gear, and did not respond to the paddles, or to switching between D and S, although the S did show in the display.
I let it sleep for an hour, and then it drove and shifted normally. Took it to the dealer, there were no codes stored (no dash notification happened either) and the car shifted normally.
First time this has happened in the 18 months and 18K miles of ownership.

I honestly thing acura has some refinement left to do with the software to handle these odd situations, they currently are just defaulting to a limp type state, and not correctly storing codes, they need to rework the software so they can work out the bugs

Sounds like the car "thought" it was in S mode but wouldn't shift. If it fixed itself, it was probably just another glitch. Like drive mode not available. I and others have had that a couple times.
This same situation has happened to me twice in the past 18 months. I only recall that the second time happened upon exiting the highway after driving at highway speeds for at least an hour. I was able to pull over - put the car in park and then back in drive and the problem went away. Definitely a software glitch. When I tried to explain this to someone, I reasoned that newer cars are basically just computers (or the infotainment system are just tablets), and they need a reboot once in a while to fix whatever is going wrong.
