Push Button Start

Hi everyone I have a question… Has anybody ever experienced having to press the engine start button multiple times to get the car to start? Every third or fourth time I hop in the car, I have to cycle through two or three button presses before the car will crank up. The first button press will go into accessory mode second button press will turn the ignition on third button press will start the car. Before anybody asks yes I have replaced the battery in my fob multiple times and this happens with both of my fobs. The bugs in this car is software continue to impress me.

I have had that but rarely in the 3+ years I have owned my RDX. Not sure what triggers that behavior, sorry. In my case it’s not anything I am worried about. Hope it gets figured out for you.

Never. The only time that's ever happened was when my foot wasn't on the brake.

You do not have your foot on the brake hard enough. Once that happens, you cycle through power on options.

Whenever I have seen this happen on my RDX it was 100% my own fault....its that press on the brake pedal thing that stops it. I can not fault the car, it was 100% driver error. (Me).

Probably a PEBCAK error but it’s possible it’s a bad brake pedal sensor.

If it's as simple as that, it's pretty dangerous if the brake lights don't come on every single time you step on the brake.

Ah, that's what's going on. A couple times a week I'd notice that the car would go into accessory mode instead of start, but I must not have been pressing the break hard enough. Thanks for the tip!

I notice on our car that sometimes the brake pedal travel seems less and we have to press much harder on the pedal to start the car. I only notice this after we've driven somewhere and stopped for I don't know, maybe 10 minutes to an hour and and then go to start the car. At all other times the pedal travel is perfectly normal.

Ivd noticed the same, usually when the car won’t start when I press the button. Seems like I really have to stand on the brake to get it started.
