2022 A-Spec Advance Tailgate

I have a 2022 Aspec advance, and the 'kick to open' tailgate feature does not seem to be working.
(yes, I have selected that option in the 'trunk' options in 'settings')
Has anyone with a 2022 Advance had that trouble ?
When looking underneath, there is now a spare tire.
Is that spare tire somehow blocking the sensor from detecting the 'kicking action' of my foot ?

Mine works but I don't have a spare. I did not know they came with spares. Might be the issue.....

The movement of your foot has to be precisely 1 kick towards the front bumper, and straight back. Side to side kicks don't work, and more than one kick will not work.

Did you have the key FOB on you when you tried to do the kicking action by chance? I had had the same issue and realized that the keys were not on me.

probably a USA/Canada thing. Canada AWDs got spares while in the US Aspecs did not.

19" wheels get a non full size spare located under the car in the rear. My Advance has one. 20" wheels get a tire repair kit but no spare.

I have a spare tire underneath and mine worked fine untill I put a trailer hitch on, then it doesn't work. So it won't work if you have a trailer hitch.

What do you mean “won’t work”? I have a spare and a trailer hitch, but I haven’t had to use the spare. Now you’ve got me worried that it won’t be accessible if I do need it…

I got the factory hitch put on (never again) aftermarket hitches are a third of the price and more rugged. The hitch covers the motion sensor behind the bumper and it can't detect your foot motion I'm guessing.

Maybe it isnt Acura but another make, but when you have the hitch, they have to move the sensor for it to work properly

yes. It seems to work fine to open. But when I try to kick close is when I have issues with it.

here are some details re Advance, 19" wheels / spare and OEM vs after market hitches that might clear some confusion.
Lots of variables...

agree none of the after market hitches will work with the 19" spare and HFA use is questionable.
lots of variables and choices re what's important to you.
