Key by Amazon In-Car Delivery Now Available for Third-Generation Acura RDX Owners
"Starting today, owners of the 2019 and 2020 model year Acura RDX with an active AcuraLink® service and Amazon Prime memberships can opt to have their Amazon packages delivered directly inside of their vehicle, rather than left on their doorstep or elsewhere, through Key by Amazon In-Car Delivery." - https://hondanews.com/releases/key-b...ura-rdx-owners
I hope whatever method Amazon uses to unlock the vehicle is more reliable than the AcuraLink app used by owners!

I don’t use any kind of service that gives remote access like this to a third party. I know that I nobody is forcing me to use it. Even so I would still NOT USE IT. Companies these days can’t even keep what info they have secure.

Since I got rid of my RDX, Honda has since released an updated version of the Honda/AcuraLink apps that may have improved operability. During my ownership period, the app would frequently say it was unable to communicate with the vehicle - usually due to a problem with the app that would require it to be forced closed and reopened.

Funny you said that. Reliability is the reason why I did not renew subscription after 6 months trial. I had my RDX over 6 months now. If AcuraLink is as reliable I would have kept. The app is crappy and the infrastructure behind it is crappier.

Mine expired June 12th and the last update(s) after the redesign cause it to be even less reliable and it took more than double the amount of time to start the car than before the redesign failing 50% of the time.

For most this is a solution looking for the right situation which I would guess most don't have. Eliminate garaged vehicles, finding vehicles in a very large lots common with many places of employment, delivery timing with cars being out and about from time to time, larger packages fitting into smaller trunks common with sedans, etc. Porch pirating of online deliveries is a problem for many, so perhaps this will help a few.

Amazon had in home delivery which failed miserably.
Anyways the point isn't about Amazon's service but rather WTF is Acura doing wasting resources to offer this service when there are many issues to fix. I remain on the sideline to purchase one due to not only major safety issues being reported but also a lack of commitment and communications from Acura to address ANY of the concerns.
Acura for me is a nostalgic purchase of remembering my father's Legend which I thought was the best car ever when I was little.
But it's no longer the same company. I thought with Jon in charge things would be back but it seems he is purely focused on design and not build.

“Amazon had in home delivery which failed miserably. “
What evidence is is there that Amazon Key for homes has failed?
Despite its dominant market position Amazon innovates constantly. It’s not afraid to fail or look silly (the Amazon phone, DASH buttons), and sometimes it reaches beyond its core competence and creates something wonderfully successful (AWS, which made cloud computing a reality).
Kudos to Acura and Amazon for this service. I don’t need or want it, but I can see it’s value for the right situation.

I don't have an Acura (I wound up leasing an XC60, although I'm still an Acura fanboy and I still consider the RDX to be the best vehicle in the class, overall). I have used the Amazon Key service for my XC60. YMMV and it may depend on Acura's implementation or Amazon's performance in your area, but it was a total fail in Los Angeles. The main problem was that Amazon would have access to my car's hatch for a relatively limited space of time. They'd be early or late and then wind up leaving the car on the porch. The other big issue was that I couldn't use the car when a delivery was schedule. So, I'd order something and Amazon would promise a delivery that morning, but not show up until the evening. So, 10 hours without the car.
I have been using the key service with my garage now, and that's been flawless.

Yeah allowing Amazon or any other third party retailer access to my garage, home or car is a no. They are just using this to gather more information (neighborhood location, square footage of house, type of car) so they can tailor more precise advertising. If I am going to give up my privacy I want a fat check.
