How long did your battery last?

Surprised that mine needed to be replaced at 4.5 year and around 43k miles. Dealer recommended replacing it because it wasn’t up to spec. Of late, my car had stopped going into AIS so perhaps that was a tell tale sign.

July will be 4yrs with 24k miles on mine and no issues as of yet. I turn off AIS intentionally though every time I drive it.

Honestly, I'm not surprised at all. I've always heard a range of about three to five years. A quick Google search brings up a number of different reference options, all of which give the same time frame. Here's AAA's for example:

https://www.aaa.com/autorepair/artic...batteries-last

For some reason, batteries are one of those maintenance items that people pay no attention to...unlike oil changes for example. Maybe most people are just lucky and their batteries outlast the average lifespan or they get them replaced when they're in for other routine service and their service advisor recommends it. It's actually better to just be proactive and replace it after a few years before it dies out at just the wrong time.

I'm surprised yours lasted that long...the longest I've had a factory Honda battery last was 3 years. On 8 Honda/Acura products my family have owned, most of the factory batteries kicked the bucket shortly after 2 years.

For us it was about 2 years...but that was only because I told the dealer when it was in for oil or whatever that the battery was dying before a software update could be completed, with the lights, fan, etc. all off. On their own they decided that it needed replacing. I assume they did some kind of test on it and determined it was ready. So yeah...2 years is a possibility I guess. On the other end of the spectrum our 2nd BMW went 9 years on the original battery, and the 3rd BMW we had (which we gave to our daughter)....I replaced that battery 10 years ago at an Auto Zone and it still seems to be going strong....which is incredible. Don't know if AGM batteries make a difference but was an AGM. I think battery life is a thing that is all over the place. There was a time where I replaced them at 4 years no matter what, just to help insure I never faced a dead battery.

3.5 year, around 22k miles in Los Angeles area for my 2019. The battery was still tested good in 2/2023, but I when I did the software update two days ago, I forgot about it and left the ignition ON overnight and that killed it. Not able to recharge it even with a 4Amp Battery Tender charger for over 24 hours (only 7.2Volts). Replacement was also an Interstate AGM from Costco and after the remove/installation of the battery, the infotainment system prompted me for a code and I just pressed the radio's power button for like 3 seconds and that cleared it. All other settings appeared to be in place.

Just over 4 years and 38,000 miles and still seems to be going strong. Auto Idle engine stop still works almost all the time (until I disable it). Although, I'm bringing it in for service and the seat belt recall soon, so I should ask them to check it.

Anybody know what these AGM batteries typically cost? I never had one before but Honda was always pretty fair on battery prices and they all lasted.

If you are taking it to the dealer, they test the battery without asking. (At least mine does as a part of their multipoint check.)

$324.19 is the estimate that I was given.

YIKES!! I don't think I've ever spent more than about $120 for a car battery. Including "installation".

Did those cars have AIS or something similar? I think the battery a bit bigger to support that.

No, this is my first car with pushbutton start, all the driver assist features and computerized infotainment system. All very demanding of the battery. But, like I said, it seems to be holding up well. Regardless, I'll want to replace it befor I "hafta".

The battery I got from Costco is around $180 (exchange with old one) and I am in Los Angeles area. With tax and fees around $200.
