10,000 Miles First Breakdown

I had to have AAA come and give me a jump start last night as the car was DEAD after sitting for just over 24 hours. I did not leave anything on when I parked it. It's at the dealer now being checked. I am concerned as when I purchase it the low battery indicator light was on. The dealership changed the battery out before I drove it off the lot. I purchased it used with just over 7500 miles on it...

I could have purchased a GM - Government Motors car to get this kind of dependability

Sorry to hear about the battery going dead on you. I just had my battery replaced under warranty. What did the dealer find out about your car?

Would we call this a no-start or a breakdown? Welcome to the world of Honda/Acura batteries........

It's not your ZDX, it's the cheap, undersized batteries Honda/Acura puts in their vehicles. All the tech stuff really does a job on battery life. I had to have the battery replaced in my RL in less than 2 years. There was no problem getting a new one at the dealership, but it was a pain to have to drive there and back, etc.

i wouldn't say this was a breakdown. the crappy acura battery died. welcome to your first experience with it. you might get lucky and have one last more than 3 yrs. its covered under warranty just get it replaced at the dealer.

and yes, they can die without any warning whatsoever. usually if its on its way out...lights flicker when starting, hard start, sometimes the electrical might seem like its possessed....just for future reference. again, it can also just die.

Welcome to Honda/Acura.

A lot of people get sick of the battery problems and go with something a little more durable, like an Optima (or whatever top brand suits you). The stock rated batteries just don't hold up.

My dealer informed me that the battery for the ZDX is not as large as the one in the MDX, but should have been, given the size and the amount of electrical draw required. They replaced mine with the larger sized battery and since then no issues like the ones reported have occurred.
