For the next over-the-hair update, can they change the blank "Minimal" display in the center dash to show something useful, like current speed and gear in nice big type?
I find "Minimal" silly the way it is. It's almost as if the programmers were like, "Hey guys, it's 4:00 on Friday. We gotta come up with another dash scheme, and Chili's happy hour starts in 20. How about we don't do shit and make it 'Minimal.'"
I guess that leads to the question: does anyone like and use Minimal?

That right there is a pretty funny statement and probably accurate as hell to boot. That's pretty much a useless feature.
What model and year Acura RDX do you have? Base? Technology? Advance? I have the 2019 Advance and don't recognize any blank space you are alluding to. I don't know what you mean by "blank minimal space".

Nope. 2019+ Advance has the "Minimal" MID page, and any SH-AWD equipped RDX will have that page as well.
I'd feel cheated if I paid top dollar and didn't get EVERY feature!
We're talking about a page for the Multi-Information Display in the center of the dash, that has the word "Minimal" as its sole content. As opposed to having no display content, which might be even more minimally distracting than silly text.
MY2020 has updated meter part that is rewriteable through Honda diagnosis computer. Not sure about 2019, but in any case don't expect an OTA update to change the meter LCD layout. The OTA only reaches infotainment sysytem as far as I can tell.
btw, Acura isn't the only one that does this. Audi has a minimal screen too. I don't see the big deal, it's a screen for folks who doesn't want the extra info. Not sure why people complain about it, it's one thing if you want more info but asking to replace minimal is like glass half empty/full..... It's just an extra screen for folks who wants a cleaner look.

I totally understand wanting a cleaner look but why put the word minimal on a screen that is intended to be blank? It's a poor oversight. At least have the word time out.

"Of the 56% who admitted sleeping, 29% told Balpa that they had woken up to find the other pilot asleep as well."
So that's about 16 out of a hundred or 16% that "had woken up to find the other pilot asleep as well." The real question is how long the pilots were simultaneously asleep. That could be 60 seconds or 60 minutes. Now about those attendants........

You would think the RDX would be better than a CRV. which has a digital display.. The "minimal" screen and the lack of a digital speedo just proves how rushed Acura was to field the RDX. Someone actually got paid to write several lines of code to display "minimal". I doubt the design intent was to actual leave the word "mimial" displayed It would have been a marginally greater effort to display a digital speedo, however it performs as designed. This just proves there was minimal if any focus group or common sense review of these features with more emphasize on high priced options like the HUD. My wive loves her RDX, I think it is a good, but not great car,
I get it but I think the logic is to prevent folks from saying why we have a “blank screen”??
the better implementation would be to display Minimal and then the text disappears.
again, Audi has the same text in Minimal mode.
call it oxymoron screen....
Instead, we have users saying "why do we have a blank screen with the word Minimal in big letters?". I have no incentive to use this screen because I'll just be reminded how ridiculous it is to have text on a screen intended to be blank. Most users who own/lease this car are probably smart enough to understand the purpose of a completely blank screen.

don’t disagree on the oxymoronic screen. But the medium age of RDX buyers are close to 60s... so maybe via focus group?
I would love a completely blank minimal screen - I mean everything gone. Things can come back on if there is a issue (like low fuel or an engine temp issue). I'm probably the only one but if there was an option to customize the screen it's what I would do.
Minor slightly unrelated rant: It's also annoying that you can't set a favorite to on the main screen have the infotainment screen go blank without going in the menu. I like having the screen off at night unless I need the nav.
