2013 RDX ... No VCM?

Hi All,
I just picked up a new RDX yesterday and it seems to not have the VCM engine feature (i'm hoping). There is no light on the dash to indicate engagement. I can't feel it and there is no mention in the owners manual.
I wonder if they dropped that feature because of problems. It was manufactured 1/13 with serial number 014172.

Anybody know anything?

Jim

Congratulations on your new RDX. There is no light on the dash or any other notification that it is engaged. If you put the fuel consumption on your MID you'll see the consumption drop noticeably when the VCM is reducing the cylinders. In time, you'll learn the feel of when the VCM is engaged.

The 2013 RDX is the first year of production. I doubt Acura dropped VCM during the first year. If they did, everybody would've probably heard about it.

It's in there ... congrats on your purchase.

The RDX does have VCM mode. As the other posters have mentioned, you can see the fuel consumption drop significantly once it enters VCM mode.

There are no other indications of the vehicle entering VCM mode.

No visible indications, perhaps; but it doesn't take long to be able to 'feel' it switch, especially in certain conditions. I've just recently experienced some of the VCM 'back and forth' along with tranny shifting up/down that has bugged some other posters.

It is interesting to look for that 'sweetspot' on the highway, where the mileage shows considerable improvement when the VCM does its thing.

Thanks for the comments guys. If it's up there doing it's thing, it's extremely smooth and totally transparent to me. I did notice last night that the mileage gets pretty high at certain low power cruise settings. I'm sure they've gotten the bugs out before Acura would use the engine.

I'm happy with my new ride.

Congratz too!

I silently wish the RDX would have an eco cruise control which would maximize cruise in 3cyl mode in such that it'll allow a larger drop in cruise speed before kick starting the other cyl.

To me optimal cruise speed is 70mph which gets around 30.5mpg
