Brake Squeak

I know this has been discussed a ton of times before, but I can't seem to find an answer. Has anyone figured out a solution for the cold-temperature brake squeal? I bought my 2022 A-spec at 18k, and now at 22k, it has started. I know it goes away once the brakes warm up, but really? Acura says that they don't have an answer, and it's caused by the environmentally friendly pad composition. This is just unacceptable for a $50,000+ car. It's driving me nuts enough to consider trading it in for an MDX, but they seem to have the same problem. Ceramic pads and new rotors, maybe? Thanks in advance!

Most likely the brake pad material. You could switch to a different pad, resurface the rotors and probably would take care of your annoyance. Brake Stop and EBC make some good bake components.

My 21' Aspc has 22k mile on it, after washing and cleaning the wheels/rims - the brakes moan for about 3-4 miles till they dry out and get heat into the pads. Not a big deal to me - just know what to expect and once it's over - they are very quiet.

2020 A-spec at 21k miles doing the same thing, it's driving me nuts. I've replaced the brake pads with ceramics and still the problem - going to be replacing the rotors next with aftermarket.

Just get ceramic pads and coated rotors from aftermarket RockAuto.

The only solution is to go with aftermarket pads/rotors. I can't believe there's not a class action by now - would be nice to get a little money to offset the cost of ditching the OEM ones.

Update: Pads replaced and the squeak gone. As a bonus, the brake pedal feels much more "solid and smooth." Acura needs to get rid of those factory pads!

Awesome! Thanks, will be switching to those soon.

Did you resurfaced the OEM Acura rotors?

Nope. There were no hot spots, and although they did feel like there was a bit of runout after the new pads were on, that also smoothed out. FYI, this is at 22K miles.

i don't believe the OEM rotors can be re-surfaced. Please check the manual.

Sorry, I meant once the new pads were installed, the runout feeling was gone. I believe that the feeling was from high and low spots and hard and soft spots in the brake pad material.

I think they can, based on the thickness once measured. My Acura dealer offered that service at the dealer.

Otherwise, EBC has a pad and rotor kit - reasonable and used them on another vehicle and worked great.
