Takeda cold air intake

Has anybody had any experience with this product?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPYRIUyXS5E

Any issues with it? Do you get the claimed increase in torque/HP?

I've never really heard of this, but I googled it and saw another of their product in a Civic Si forum and apparently its a new company.

It's a company off of aFe.

Mr.Heel Toe should be jumping on this soon with availability since he said, IIRC, that it would be available through him.

So I guess I need to add this to my swaybar shopping cart....

12hp/11tq is more feasible than the 16hp/20tq in the original post.

Good video, enjoy it!

Look at the dyno though. Max increase in power is around 16HP/20TQ. Did they average the gains for the video?

I was just using the numbers posted in the video.

I don't know of any manufacturer that would average out gains, only peak hp/tq.

That's still a lot of power for only an intake. Interesting....

In the video, they state the 12.5hp gain comes from CAI converts to short ram. Short ram will be breathing in hotter air hence lower power gain??

You can make it either or. I don't know the gain differences. Sorry.

one or the other ehh.. I'm feeling the CAI cause it looks cooler.. haha.. I'm going to do a little more research and see what it does and what not.. thanks for the response.. is it out yet? I think it would go great with the Rear Sway Bar.. or maybe even an exhaust would be nice right now... I hate the stock sound.. =/

If you hate the stock sound remove the resonator. You will need to remove it before you can install a CAI anyhow.

The intake should be the same result as the 1G TSX. With a CAI, you will notice more gain in the higher revs while with a SRI, you will notice a gain in the lower end of the rpm and of course it will be louder since its "closer" to where you drive.

Hmm, interesting.. I'd probably take the short ram over the CAI for gains in the lower end. I hardly ever go over 6k rpm anyway.

When aFe was putting in on, they told me when you buy the unit, you can make it either or. So, you are essentially buying both a SRI and a CAI.

dont forget that with a short ram, you will LOSE power in anything above 80 degree weather. this is a fact. cold air is the only way to go if you actually want year round gains but stay away from those deep puddles.

I don't get why they say it will fit on the 08 as well....... that makes me feel a little shaky about the company making such a mistake.

It's just a typo. Calm down. The only reason it is up there is because it is pretty much the same intake as the accord coupe 08-09. Also, that video was not posted on their site yet. Someone just stumbled across it.

AustinJay, I know you posted a video of your car accelerating quickly, but could you also post a sound test of just normal driving? Just wondering how loud it gets in a cabin under normal load.

I honestly sounds stock. The good thing about an intake is that there is no drone. You only get the noise at WOT really.

As far as performance, I really don't know yet. I used to have a 350AWHP Evo IX, so the power isn't as noticeable. I did notice a better throttle response. I think the ECU needs to get used to the extra airflow first.
The more I drive it, the more I feel. 16HP is a lot, but not a lot in a 3415 lb car. Like I said before, it just feels like it has a better throttle response. Sorry for your disbelief.
Quotes from Austin Jay's previous thread Hope it helps!

I guess the next question is how much the mileage is affected? Hopefully on the up and up.

Only about 1.6 to 2.0 MPG better. Not huge.
