09-10 Grille "H" to "A" conversion

I was browsing through the forums last month and found a thread about a JDM Style grille, and I thought I'd give it a shot.

Thread here: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-performance-parts-modifications-299/09-10-jdm-grille-902827/

I bought it and here's what it looks like:

I didn't want to rebadge the Acura as a Honda, and searching through the other threads, I ran into CU2 Dan's Thread (https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-photograph-gallery-144/daily-driver-project-cu2-885343/) and thought I'd give it a shot to integrate the "A" onto the grille.

First I had to cut out the "H" which was pretty messy, but got it done regardless

Forgot to take a picture of the new emblem housing, but I test fitted it and cut some parts down to make it look flush. After I was happy with how the emblem housing aligned with the grille, I used body filler to fill in the gaps and then sanded it down to make it flush with the housing.

And here's the final product!

I might get some bonding putty to fill in the small imperfections (first time working with body filler) even though they aren't visible from 3 feet away since they bother me, but overall I'm happy with the results.

I'll probably have the grille on the car after I get the RV6 installed this weekend along with the vibrant resonator.

A Job well done! The new grill will look undeniably good on your tsx with sports bumper.

I'd love to see the final product on your car!

You can do it for 11+ also! you'll just have to get the 2013 JDM/Euro grill

then you can follow the same steps I did to get the "A" onto it

CU2 Dan did it which is what inspired me to try it out

except there is NO JDM STYLE for the 11+ yet/

must be OEM. then it takes a bit more cajones to cut it up after you spent 300+ on a grille.

cu2dan got his in JApan cheep/.

The problem is that its around $325 total for the grille. It's not really worth it to me at that price. I'm waiting for it to pop up on ebay used but that is unlikely. Or for the "jdm style" ebay one but I don't think they make one.

its your deal OP>

I bought mine USED for $300 from AUS.

and it will be about 50 more as you need to buy the RL A piece.......

the STYLE grille showed up 6 months ago. so you should only have to wait about 18 more months/

Goodluck! I still haven't put the grille on yet, but I got the rv6 precat delete installed on Saturday. Definitely pulls a little harder and sounds better

I covered the bondo with 4-5 coats of primer, then I sanded it down with 80 grit, then 180, then 320. After that I let it dry for 2 hours then went with black paint.

Haha cause white is the best!

also maybe due to the fact you can see the accents better on white compared to black

Thanks though!

Looks kind of Mercedes Benz-ish or like the MDX grille. I like it though!

How would you rate the overall fitment and build quality of the grille?

Overall fitment, I'd give it 8.5/10, would of given it a 9 if the rubber from the OEM grille fit in perfectly.

Quality, for what I paid for, is actually pretty good and I'm satisfied with what I got

I just got mine in today. I must say it's pretty good quality, and comes in a OEM Honda Parts box. @ AsianBaller21 what are the part numbers for the 06 RL Emblem & Base?

Btw, the bars on the grille are chrome, but the outside trim is silver, not chrome. I will be painting the silver part black.

did you glue the A housing to hold it in the cutout prior to bondo(ing)
what did you use to paint the bondo area?

I did no gluing, the A housing was cut about an inch all around and it sat on the cutout H perfectly.

I just used regular black spray paint once I sanded everything out.

And yes, the silver trim is removable
