Compustar Remote Start Installed

I just had a Compustar remote start system installed in my car and am very impressed. I would recommend that anybody looking into security systems or remote start systems go with Compustar products. The customizability is excellent and the range on this basic system is great.

Does the car stay running when you open the door?

Yup, it sure does. If you get in the car and turn the key to the #2 position you can drive off without ever having to stop and restart the car again.

This is a Compustar remote start system CS601-S w/ 1-Button Starter Combo. The kit came with 2 one button remotes that work up to 800 feet away from the vehicle. There is an antenna mounted inside the car, next to the rearview mirror mount. We also need the Blade unit to communicate with the car's computer and allow the car to start w/o having to give up a key. I purchased this as a Groupon and the remote start installed was $199 and I paid an additional $125 for the blade.

Yup, that's correct. Initially I was planning to add the Drone system on here as well so that I can control everything from my iPhone but since the 1 button already has the range I wanted I don't know if I want to spend $350 to have the novelty of controlling the system from my phone. You can also add EZgo to the system which adds a proximity sensor so the doors will lock and unlock when you get within 5 feet of the vehicle, similar to the "Keyless Go", "Smart Key" and "Intelligent Key" features on other cars.

Compustar is the best in the business. Call around to a few install shops. Initially I was looking at Viper but upon doing some research I found that Compustar products are more reliable with a lower failure rate and their warranty replacement process is much simpler than DEIs(Viper).

lol your avatar displays your bad parking. I wanted the viper smart phone kit. but then someone told me if you lose your phone you lose your car.... I've never lost my phone before but i hope this doesn't happen to me if I do decide to go that route. Considering a push start system!!!

Never thought about it like that but that's probably true. I don't lose phones either so I shouldn't have that problem. I was looking at the smart start as well and found accompany that wanted $370 installed for the smart start remote start. I decided to pass on the Viper solution after doing that research though.

??? Looks pretty straight to me... if you're commenting on not centered, nice to stay as far away from the $%# door dingers as possible...

VERY interested in this mod! Was the Groupon a local install shop? What was standard price?

I thought I parked pretty straight too! Lol. I spent $200 to have the door dings pulled from my 2006 TSX and decided this go round to try and avoid as many dings as possible. This was done by a local shop in Raleigh, 919 Motoring. The normal price was $370 I believe, plus the drone unit, which is $125.

It's just that he's parked on the "You can't drive on this" part of the road. IDK what's it called.

Flanders - Can you elaborate? I've been told that using the factory key fob is not possible. Which is why I have been looking at the Smart Start system.

Is it only compustart systems that let you use the factory keyfob to remote start?

Does installng any remote start void my factory warranty?

You can use the factory remote if you add EZ Go to the Compustar system. EZ Go is a proximity sensor setup that locks and unlocks the vehicle when you are within 5 feet. It also allows you to use the factory remote to start the car. The only issue with relying on the key is that the range is limited by the range of the factory remote. This doesn't affect your warranty at all.
