In 2021, I purchased a 2012 TSX Wagon with tech package but have never been able to pair my iPhone with Bluetooth Handsfree system. I have a friend with the same car, and we ran through the steps (no luck), then took it to the service bay of a local Honda dealership. After 25 min of trying, the tech said I needed to make an appointment because he was unable to pair.
I've been getting by with being able to DIRECT CONNECT with an aux cord (iPhone SE, Lightning connector). Since I've upgraded my iPhone (17, USB-C), the phone and stereo have stopped connecting altogether.
I'd like to try any home fixes before giving in and taking it to a dealership! Pairing my new phone with the Bluetooth Handsfree is much preferred over the direct connection, but I'd like to know why this has ceased to be an option as well.
We’ve had our 2012 since 2012. Non-tech, but had the Bluetooth module. It never, ever worked properly, and that’s with many different iPhones through the years. I eventually replaced it with a pioneer CarPlay unit and removed the module altogether. Although if you do, be sure to completely wipe it, as something somewhere will keep trying to connect.
From what I can tell with way modern (last couple years) phone bluetooth works doesn't play nicely with our older bluetooth module. The car doesn't like trying to be constantly connected to by the phone. I've had my non-nav 2011 since new and bluetooth has always worked perfectly up until a year or two ago, connecting to probably 5 different phones over the ~12 years.
If you're able to find a solution you will be everyone's hero!
