Hey guys new here, just picked up my 2010 TSX CBP 6 speed two weeks ago and I'm going Friday for tints, wondering how dark I should go since I have ebony interior and I live in NYC...

Wanted to get some ideas and I searched and couldn't find anything

I have the same color combination and I have 35% all around. I think it looks great and I'll see if I can get some pictures up soon.

 

Yeah that'd be great because I was leaning towards 20 which might be overkill at night

 

i had 35 and it was nearly enough, also depends on the film you get though, be sure to get samples placed on your window before you make a final decision. i had 35 llumar patriot and it wasnt very dim. I now have 3M premium FX at 15%

 

Yeah the installer said he's gonna use the good film since ima have the car for awhile, 15% that must be crazy dark any pics?

is 20% even legal in your area?
I did 35% all around because The Great State of Texas said so.
and then they changed the laws..its now 25%!! lol

If I had the chance to do it again, I'd do 25% with ebony interior.

Wasn't asking what to get just wanted to see how it looked on a TSX, in NY I'm pretty sure anything on the front windows are illegal... Just a hit or miss gettin pulled... Might just go with a 25 all around kinda don't like two different %'s that's just me

 

Thanks, 17 is way to dark... Gonna go with 25 if he has that if not ill just lean towards 35... Just found out its $90 a window if I get slammed... And I don't drive thru the best areas

Tint is there from the beginning of my build thread.

 

 

i would ask dealer for the brand/product he is using and do research beforehand. good film doesnt mean the best film.

 

Yeah ima ask him, it's not the stealership it's a guy well known from my area

 

25 all around, it's what I have on my TL, it's perfect...you can still see well at night. 35 IMO is little too light.

 

Here's the picture of 35% all around. This was taken in bright sunshine. A little darker would be nice but that's the limit around here.

That's what I was looking for, a little too light for me too, gonna see if I could go with a 25 right in the middle

 

I have 20% up front and a 6" strip on the front windshield and 5% in the rear. The rear is really dark but I like it that way.

 

Mines white but has a the ebony interior. I can have some pics up later

I was questioned a few times even with 20%. Don't ask about what happens with 5%.

You might be better off with 35% especially with ebony interior.

how much does it cost to tint a car?

 

if you're worried about police, i'd suggest getting 35%. i have 35 on mine and never been pulled over for tints. my friend had 20 on his scion, then his IS. he's been pulled over 3 times for tints.

 

Mine was $195 at a honda dealership for all 4 windows + rear. Cheaper than some indy guys I called.

 

Yeah that's the thing don't wanna deal with cops so I don't want nothing too dark... Gonna see what the guy has tomorrow and see what's best

 

$195 and i got 3M tint.

 

Llumar AirBlue 80 on my wagon. Cost was $400. Before anyone says why bother, I dislike the dark windows look. The film allows 80% light through but blocks out 43% of sun energy (which is better than several 50 tint film).

its not to say why bother but dange they ripped you off. i got 3m which la tint and those big name tint place say is more expensive for $120 and got 5% rear 30% front. which im switching to 20% front. and front windshield 40% will post pic soon

 

Perhaps that is why you don't understand tint. It isn't price alone or "darkness" but you'll be back when you get done for a tinted windshield.

 

i have tint on all my car i wasnt saying anything wrong here just that $400 is a whole rip off. and do you mean ill be pulled over cause see thats why its good working as a medical biller, i have the DMV note signed and in the system so when they check my plates for tint they see the note so the leave me alone.

 

I think tinted windsheild is still illegal though...
