You do realize that you just admitted to falsifying a document? It is arrogant ignorant people like you that make it more difficult for individuals with legitimate disabilities to get needed exemptions. I'll bet you have a handicap hangtag too.

Right. So you are an arrogant little prick who used your connections to illegally obtain a tint exemption - and you think that is cool.

We can only hope that some other scumbag thinks you are hiding some dope in your car and breaks your windows to steal it.

You can only hope that karma doesn't saddle you with a real disability so that you can see what people with disabilities go through.

Sure it is - in every state, but some people use their "connections" to illegally obtain exemptions. This dude is no better than the clowns who park across two handicap slots using the hangtag they stole from their granny.

And I'm sure you're proud of that too.

Just for reference. Let's do a bit of a math puzzle.

All glass (even the "clear" glass) reduces visible light transmission. Acura glass is about 85% or thereabout. We now reduce that by another 80% (the 20% tint) so we come up with about 17% VLT.

Common dark sunglasses have a VLT of between 15 and 20%, so this guy's windshield is as dark as the darkest sunglasses that you would buy in a store.

Try putting on your dark glasses every time you get into your car - in the rain, at night, in tunnels or parking garages or anywhere else. Does any normal person still think that tinted windshields are "cool?" You can't take them off like sunglasses and I know of several repair shops that will refuse to work on cars with tinted windshields because they won't expose their employees to driving in the garage.

Rather than tinting windshields, I'd just suggest plasti-dip on the whole car - including windows - that would look cool.

Your issues sound like personal problems. I like most people prefer the tinted look better as it makes the car look a lot more sleek. A prime example would be in the majority of car advertisements.. The windows are tinted.

I can see perfectly fine thru the window.

Ceb you have so many issues if you dont like it that is your preference you have to take that stick out of your well we all know where thats going. but we all have preference and first do you even have a slight of tint. and like alittlefavour said those sound like personal issues anyway this was a thread to post pics and see how the car looks with different percentage tints, not that you have a stick up there and that you hope karma bite us in the butt. and you must be blind if you cant see out of tint. or just get reverse hids.

and a side comment i plasti dip my roof might do the front windshield oer ceb recommendation instead of tinting the front windshield save me money. thanks ill post pics when done.,

mines 5% on the sides and 20% front and back. cost probably $300. had 35% all the way around and nothing on the front window but then got my tint legalized certificate to do what I wanted.

What is wrong with you people. Aside from reducing VLT dramatically, some of you seem to enjoy flaunting your ability to illegally get a tint exemption.

It is people like you who make it difficult individuals with legitimate requirements to get exemptions.

Grow up kids. In a few years you'll look back at your posts and say "WTF was I thinking?"

The VLT you speak of is not nearly "dramatically" reduced as you put it. A good quality tint will have the effect almost as a double side mirror. The tint looks very dark from the outside but on the inside the average person would not notice a difference.

I'd take a few snap shots to prove you wrong but I'd rather not waste anymore time on your ignorance.

I guess you have no idea how a VLT light meter works - nor have you any clue about how light works (or how your brain processes light. 20% tint allows 20% of visible light to pass through the light.

Yes, there are reflective tint, but those are generally illegal everywhere as aftermarket and are quite obvious. None of the tint pictured is a mirrored tint - they are all "normal" tint. Even mirror tint is still measured in VLT.

Don't believe me? Try this.

On an overcast (bright but without shadows) day, park your car in an open area (the middle of deserted parking lot works well) and open your car door.

Stand on one side, look through the car door window and hold a newspaper a foot or so from the other side of the window - move to the other side and repeat.

It'll be identical.

Related question, I'm also looking to have tint installed on my TSX Sport Wagon. Anyone know if I'll need to have moleskin put on the sills or if the OE sills are okay?

Thanks!

The TSX isn't like the BMW E90 where you HAD to have moleskin. I haven't heard lots of reports of scratched tint here.

It looks like you painted the windows. I would imagine driving at night would be as easy if you just pained the windows

You can get better heat and UV rejection using a 60% ceramic tint. The darker tint does not mean better heat rejection.

No regrets. It's nice to have on sunny days. No need for sunglasses. Can see fine at night, even during the rain.

Yeah. Sunglasses are such a pain to put on.

Let's just hope you never hit anything (or anything hits you) because you've lost insurance coverage if the other party has any smarts.

This might be the least of his problems, particularly at night. As I scan the posts that include pictures and descriptions of cars that are clearly illegally equipped, I have to wonder. I wonder if they realize what any competent trial attorney could do to their lives should they be involved in any kind of an even remotely serious accident (I also have to wonder what tint shop would install such blatantly illegal film. We can also tack his business onto the lawsuit bounty). I love the famous last words like "I haven't had any problems yet", "I can see fine at night", and the classic optimism "that stuff always happens to the other guy". Well, someday, we're all the other guy.

I'm the "old guy" and will admit to a penchant for throwing cold water on the parade at times. I also realize that I probably sound like your father occasionally. But I paid attention as I got older, and those of us who try to offer a more reasoned view are just trying to save some of you from yourselves and from some of the mistakes that we made.

I've read the "at night I just roll the window down and look out that" or "my eyes are better. I can see fine."

Assuming these guys survive, they'll look back at their reckless behavior and shudder in a few years.

Yes I understand both of your points. I realize there are huge risks driving with a tinted windshield and have thought of taking it off. I rarely drive my car though (<500 miles this year), so I haven't had to really drive with it. If it becomes my daily driver again I will probably remove it just to avoid any potential legal trouble.

20% on sides/back in NYC. Looks great but sometimes I have a hard time seeing out the sides while parking.

Will probably just do 30% on my next car.
