Push to start is the last thing I worry about in a new car. To me its a gimmick.

I knew that crabbypants....but the legend changed to the RL so i figured in terms of actual unchanging name longevity...the TL was older no?

the purist believe that The Legend namesake should have been kept on the RL. the RL/Legend is the flagship car.

then you have the TL.
a tier lower.

then the TSX.
another tier.

Mr.NC should have said, the lowest tier doesnt get the same technology as the top tier.
But as technology gets cheaper, you'll see it start to trickle down.

No. I could care less about push to start.

My only real gripe with the wagon's interior is the infotainment interface. No big deal though. I care more about handling, performance, mpg, value, reliability, ...

All manual transmission TSXs have "push to start." It is just the automatics that don't have it.

IMO, not a big deal. It doesn't really impress me to have it. I had a 2013 RDX (which obviously has it) loaner this week while the TSX was being worked on. I found it amusing because I handed the wifey the key fob and told her to take it for a drive to see how she liked it. Needless to say, she was looking over the dash for a while trying to figure out where the key was, where it needed to go, and how to start the car. After she gave me the look, my 8 year old daughter goes, "Hey mommy, just push the button!" It was priceless.

2G TSX came out in Japan in 2008...I'll go out on a limb and say push to start wasnt a big deal back then as it is now? + The car came out during the global recession...gotta drop costs where you can.

To add push to start on a car midcycle for an 11-12 refresh also seems like a gimmick move too. + with the tlx love child maybe they know something we didn't so they wont bother adding it?

no, in 2008/2009 is when acura added it to the TL. in their 4th Gen TL.

its a tier thing.
they didnt want the TSX taking away sales from the TL.

some one brought up the ILX.
as technology gets cheaper, you can simply put this in place from the factory.

the 2nd Gen TSX has been out since 2008/9.
we are well in the 4th year of production.

How much money would it cost Acura to Re-tool their factory to add a pushstart to existing TSXs? A LOT.

Correct, on your 2nd part mr. NC.

the new accord standard features had better be in the tlx love child. otherwise no one is gonna buy it and they'll all buy the accord instead.
