TSX= No Push To Start
Did we ever figure out if its possible to get a real push start in our tsx? I remember reading in either 3g tl or 1g tsx they got one but you had to have the key in the ignition before you could push to start. That is stupid.
That's more expensive than the ZDX? does the zdx have it?
I recall reading a thread where a person did install push to start but it was hella complex. Not sure if it was this forum or the other forum

this is true but honda has been using push start since 99 when they debuted it on the S2000.
it was a insert key + push start but still.
all acuras following that should have had push button start imo.
even nissan altimas, hyundais, kias..etc started getting the push button start a while ago.
you would think that acura.. the luxury brand of the company that started the push button start would carry it on all its cars..
i think its very cool and to be honest, i thought the TSX had it until i test drove it. i saw it in the ILX i test drove and the TL i test drove. i got in the TSX and was like WTF?
I did a quick google of it and saw a 3g tl with it, but will read more about it when I get home tonight. Now that I think about it I remember researching viper systems for remote start because their remotes weren't super ugly. I just didn't really want to be the guinea pig with the installation of one of the viper systems.

Nope. I had a 2013 RDX Tech as a loaner and while it was cool to be able to unlock the doors by just touching the handles, there's something just soul-less about pushbutton start.
Call me paranoid too, but as someone who's had a battery die before, I like the idea of having a mechanical override in case the electrical system fails. Only Lexus has that to go with their pushbutton start (that I know of).

Push button start is still a relatively new technology. And it is pretty complicated to integrate into the car. It is not just a button on the dash. The new Accord has it on EL models (maybe LX too, can't remember) so it is nearly a certainty that the TLX will have it as a standard feature. But it is too expensive to retrofit into the TSX.
To all those people that say "i can live without it" it will someday be expected in cars like an Acura just like 'keyless entry' was once a gimmic but we'd all certainly expect it. Along with power windows and locks. Personnaly I want the feature. I hate having to constantly take my keys in and out of my pocket, and while the keys hang in the ignition and vibrate, drives me crazy. Might sound like little things but isn't it the little things that separate an Acura from an Accord? So if no one cared about the little things just by an Accord.
BTW my local Honda dealer had 4 new accords on the lot and they look nice. They have done a good job with them and that hopefully means the TLX will be nice as well. Yes with push button start along with other features we really don't need but want anyway.

Non issue to me. Was well aware of the this when I bought it last month - didn't care.
As far as the Accord goes the interior pics didn't look so good to me and I'll take the ELS audio alone over the push button start - lane departure and awful Honda audio any day.

Just saw the new Kia Soul commercial. Even this 14,000 car has a push button start lol.
TBO, I thought it was cool the first time I tried it on my sisters M35x. But I actually prefer the traditional key turning method.

its easier and cheaper to implement it from the start.
like rocketman and myself have stated, it just cost to much to "retrofit" it as Acura would have to re-tool their current factory.
didnt any one pass economics!?!?
I think the people mentioning push button start is an extra or something that could fail... might have it wrong. Don't know for sure on TSX but TL at least it *already* is automatic start-up once you turn the key you can immediately let go and it knows how much to crank it until it starts. So effectively the key is acting as a push button, there is no difference
No?

"one crank start" as its called.
in the 09 Tl's they moved to an actual push button and proximity key
^still needs a key.
the only option ive seen that doesnt need a key is the ST800.
or some one found a work around to not having to insert the key.
kinda ironic when most of you guise are looking for a true push 2 start.

is about the only kit that seems like it would be worth a damn but requires a blank key or something to be mounted in the key hole at all times i believe.
its pretty much the lexus system.
i wouldnt mind having the feature but its not worth spend $350 + installation to me.

Soooo general question to anyone, how do you push start a push to start car....? I've never used a push to start car, normally you set your key to ON/II position when push starting so your car is in "run" mode when it fires up.
I guess you can toggle this state with momentary pushes of the start button to get to ON/II "position"? What indicates that you are set to ON/II, lights? Aren't you push starting cause your battery is dead and no lights?...so can you even set it to "run" mode
Maybe this system still runs on very low voltage & current so it will still work even with a "dead" battery?
