Trunk not closing all the time

I'm coming up on 30 days of ownership and one minor annoyance is that the trunk rarely shuts on the first try.

I usually try to pull it down from the black plastic latch cover so I don't have to fingerprint up the exterior but it doesn't seem to latch. How do you shut your trunk?

Put my hand on the deck lid and slam. But that's because Billy Batts is still squirming around.

I'd more than likely take it to the dealer and have them check it out. Seems like somethings gettin in the way of the latch. Check it out and if you don't find anything, run it by the dealer.

My '09 used to always do the same thing. I had to slam it relatively hard to get it to close.

On my '11, it takes hardly any effort to close the trunk. I just give the plastic latch a short pull.

I wonder if this is something the dealer can adjust?

plastic latch on the inside and it always closes unless I'm being a sissy about it and laming it.

Sometimes the plastic around latch part in the trunk comes loose and makes it difficult for the trunk to close. It happened to me once when my snowboards knocked the plastic off and blocked the latch from engaging properly.

check for something blocking the latch like others have said. the other thing you want to check is to make sure the weather stripping around the trunk (not on the lid, the car), is sitting correctly. my TL's trunk closed effortlessly, until the body shop was messing around with my bumper. the trunk lid had to slammed shut rather than a light touch to close it. i mentioned it to the shop when i went in for some fitment adjustments. their body guy that works on acuras all the time, looked at it, said the rubber stripping was not suppose to sit like it was and started pulling the rubber stripping on the car (it was kind of rolled on itself). he set it flat again and the trunk lid closed normally again. might be worth a try.

My 2012 does this as well. I figure it's just because the trunk is so damn light. This is without any spoiler.
