Wackura, I would agree that the Euro Accord Tourer and the TSX spy pics are nearly identical. And if this is the case, I am going to like the new TSX then.

Good eye... But I was mainly referring to the Size of the vehicle. That Sports4 concept would indeed fit in the COMPACT car category... with the current TSX. But looking above.. that looks (to me) to be nearly mid-sized. Acura can't afford to abandon this segment again. The TSX did as well as it did because it filled a BIG hole after the INTEGRA sedan was discontinued.

I know the styling about what you posted before is dead on. But THAT TSX is bigger than the Sport4 concept is all I meant.

Comparing the upcoming TL to the Sports 4 concept is very depressing. If the Sports 4 were truely realized it would be an expensive car, much moreso than a TSX or a TL.

This video http://world.honda.com/Tokyo2005/sports4/videos/ portrays various controls for backseat passengers, tons of trim, leather components and a glass roof like nothing we've seen on any previous car and defffffffinately not in the spy shots of the new TSX and TL. It looks way too good to be true, while these new models are so conventional looking that I doubt Honda ever had any intention of making a real Sports 4, or maybe they told the designer to make a dream car - don't think about cost - only to realize after the fact that it would be extremely expensive, impractical and unsafe in a roll over.

How good would that car have looked as a drop-top??? Good video. The roof was indeed unsafe looking in any kind of roll over situation. But put a hard top on it with an extended panoramic sunroof. That car SHOULD have been a worthy 3series fighter.

Obviously you are a idiot that only reads what you want. I said "I am not calling you liars but at any moment things can change" (V6 tsx) hint, hint. Meaning a V6 TSX could be on the drawing board but it can get scrapped for a 4cyl turbo or nothing at all.

The Euro Accord Type R used a 2.0L with 220Hp, shared with the RSX-R. Last I checked the TSX has a 2.4.

Point being the TSX is more closely related to an Accord Executive than it is a Type R.

That's the Acura CSX also a JDM Civic. Acccording to what I read from wiki, Japan Honda actually chooses the Acura CSX to become the current generation of Civic; a Honda badged Acura.

correct me if I am wrong.....but the European Market has a completely different TYPE-R than the Japanese Market. Being the one with 220ho and said to absolutely get down. The latest information I dug up on the European TYPE-R was and identical car to the TSX with right hand drive of course.

I think TSX is more identical to Japan Honda Accord 24 TL than Accord type-r and euro r.

For the CL chassis there is only a Euro R, not a Type R model.

Accord Type R (CH1) was only sold in Europe from 1999 to 2002, powered by a H22A7 engine with 212 hp.

Accord Euro R (CL7) is sold in Japan, K20 engine and 220 hp. Notice how Honda doesn't call it a Type R.

Europe has a CL9 Type S but it's a standard K24 underneath with no LSD or weight reduction. It has the same skirts as the JDM Euro R.

I own a CH1 and CL9.

The TSX is similar to European 2.4 or Japanese 2.4. There's nothing "R" in it because it would mean the R treatment like Momo steering wheel, Recaro seats, weight reduction, stiffer suspension, LSD etc.

Sigh. I need a new car badly (driving a beater currently) and originally wanted to wait until the 2009 was unveiled before I took the plunge, but 6spd's are disappearing everywhere. And my color combo is getting really rare...

Even more when this thread is basically the sole reason i'm holding out on going and getting an 08 right now since they are very willing to deal to get rid of them.

I started another thread, but basically i'm holding out to see the pics of the 09, and if I don't like it I'm strongly considering getting an 08 for cheap. Hopefully it shows up in Chicago, haven't heard any word on that in a few days though, hope edmunds.com wasn't lying in that article...

The interior is the same. The only difference is in the shape of the front lights and fascia, and rear lights.
I think you are right. The TSX spie look 100% the Tourer. They are the same car.

yeah, the TSX looks the same as wagon accord in europe, and they were suposed to look the same.
i have been waiting for half year already , i wish they start to sell it TODAY!!!

anybody knows if they are going to use the advanced VETC engine with slate information?

While we're awaiting official details to be released regarding the upcoming refresh for the 2009 RL at next week's Chicago Auto Show, a few updates have come in regarding the 2009 TSX, TL, and RL.

First off, the '09 TSX's onsale date has once again been "confirmed" as 4/24/08. Word from this source is that it will only be offered in front-wheel-drive, at least initially. In addition to the XM weather feature that's already been mentioned (the 2009 RL will be the world's first production model with the XM weather function), the RL will reportedly finally get cooled front seats (strangely, these were always offered in Canada). Supposedly the RL will continue with a 3.5L motor, but it will now deliver 306hp. Considering that the '09 TL will supposedly be getting a 3.5L (FF) and 3.7L (SH-AWD), it seems odd that the RL would stick with the 3.5, so this might be an error. The styling revisions to the RL are said to have given the car an edgier look.

The same source indicated that the 2009 TL will be offered in both front-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, with the front-drive models running a 3.5L V6 and the SH-AWD model getting a 3.7L version. We had heard a while back that the SH-AWD version would deliver a little over 300hp, so we're guessing that's the same motor that the 306hp RL will be getting, and they'll both be 3.7L.

If this is true, then I guess only type-s models will have sh-awd. Im guessing it also means a year or so wait for the sh-awd to actually come out with the upgraded engines.

Lets hope the 3.7L can manage more than 306HP. I think the RL needs more than 306.

Hopefully the 3.7 will be tweaked for even more torque, which is more what the RL needs than HP at this point.

That's what I'm thinking, too. They might stick to what they've done in the past with the TL, i.e. introduce the Type-S towards the end of the cycle. That would be a mistake, IMO. They should offer a higher performance option for the entire cycle, not just the last year or two.

I think Acura maybe switching their position on going tier1, seems more likely they are looking to take on Audi instead. Hopefully they can offer interiors that equal or are better, because when it comes down to it they have been considered the best in the business.

Interesting news

While visiting my daily car sites, i came across some interesting articles. This Edmunds article is a first drive of a Subaru turbodiesel.

It is great to see manufacturers take different routes to increase gas mileage. This car seems great- from the gas mileage to the power. It makes me think subaru should discontinue the wrx and only manufacture the diesel for a base and STI for all out perfomance. Of course, this wont happen in the near future as Subaru has everything in place to produce the WRX fairly inexpensively.

This leads to my next piece of news- confirmation of the TSX's diesel in the following Car and Driver article.

It finally gives some info as to the tsx's hp/ torque numbers for the diesel. Possibly 350 ft-lbs of torque! I was expecting something close to 300 but 350! If it gets 45 mpg, this is a car that can change the landscape. That mpg can be the greatest of any premium brand. Lexus is working on a luxury hybrid that will get excellent mileage, but Acura may get there first with the diesel powertrain and still have good power. My only concern is that the diesel wont have the fun top end that Ive become accustomed to with Honda, but it is exciting to know that the next tsx will have multiple engine options.

diesel vs gas

i do not know much about the cars, speically the difference between diesel and gas.
does anybody know is it better to get the diesel TSX or gasoline TSX? what are the advantage for each ?

Broadly speaking: Diesel will give you increased savings on fuel as their mpg is very high (20-40%). Diesel will give you huge amounts of torque but lower hp in general. As for the environment, Diesel produces less carbon dioxide then gas powered vehicles, but will produce more dirty particles and spew out more nitrogen oxides.

They are trade offs. Around 40% of cars sold in Europe are Diesel. In the US, majority of Diesels are trucks which take advantage of the high torque (good for towing).

3.5L Fwd torque steer monster...all the way.
3.7L sh-awd better equal 330hp at least for me to even glance at the new TL-S.

~260 hp 230tq is plenty of hp/tq to be working with fwd (as I currently have in my CL-S...can't get traction as it is right now). If honda/acura wants to play the performance game they need rwd/awd cars all the way. If they want to stay a practicle car company they better narrow that down to awd because performace and fwd doesn't mix. I'm done venting.

That's a pretty good little summary.

I just read that a British study was conducted and that biofuels are actually worse for the environment than dino juice is (regular gas), as far as greenhouse gases are concerned. The reason is there are too many nitrogen particles (like Nitrous-Oxide) being released by these fuels due to the fertilizers used to grow them. Not only do they contaminate the earth and water tables where they're grown, but they're spewed into the air when they're burned in cars.

Anywho, I believe we should have more diesel engines. Now that clean diesel is a reality, we could use the increase in MPG.
