The Official 2009 TSX Thread **Unvelied in NY**

I'm kinda wondering what this is going to do to Acura's sales. They claim sales are falling on account of having stale models but if this is what people see on the lot it isn't going to slow descent. A criticism of their offerings is that the TSX and TL are comparable to an Accord in some important ways and that will remain the case. Also maybe it's me but that gas cap hatch seems comicly large.

it looks like the current tsx doors. I am really confused now. I mean so the redesigned the front and kept the same frame and doors.

I also noticed straight away the wee little head driving. I know the car looks a little bulkier than the current model, but I sure as hell don't want to look like I'm sitting on phone books to drive the car. Maybe it'll have adjustable pedals, just like the Fusion!

All,
I do not think that these are pics of the 09 TSX. The side view looks exactly like the current model. The front does appear modified. Why, who knows? Maybe, just someone who works at Honda.
My question to all of you is look at the 2nd gen MDX. It does not look much like the 1st gen. Why would Honda make only what would be considered a minor re fresh? If this is the new 09 TSX than I question Honda’s long term plans for this platform.

I concede the gas door placement is higher and further forward. The pic resolution is pretty grainy, but the primary side style line does appear to be higher through the door handle, similar to the current TL, which IMO is a very attractive.

I just noticed on the teaser pic of the Tourer http://www.vtec.net/news/news-image?...08acc_e-06.jpg if you look through the red stripe at the bottom they have once again have put a twisty knob control in the gauge cluster. WTF is the matter with them. The Tourer looks a lot better than the sedan, I wish they'd offer it in the US.

^ Yeah, I know it's completely new sheetmetal but the side looks almost completely the same to the current model. Well it's hard to get a idea of how big the new car will be cause I was using approximations with the old pic. But the new car does look taller for sure.
The 09 car is more evolutionary than revolutionary. They pretty much did what Infiniti did with the G35 sedan... make it rounder, sleeker but keep the familiar look.
Not bad, but i was expecting more. I'll reserve final judgement on the final unveil. And then there's the interior. looks like Acura is completely taking out the touch screen navis and replacing it with the giant dial setup :/

too bulky for my taste, i through the tsx is an sport/luxury sedan, G2 doesn't have the sporty look to it , if this is wat they offer i will be very very sad
i would stay with my 06 for an bit longer

I'm glad they're keeping it similar. I won't pass judgement until I see it on the road. We seem to crucify these designs before we even see them on the road and about 80% of the time they turn out alright.
It does look bigger, and like someone mentioned it seems to have a bit of Lexus GS in profile. The hood is long, the C pillar merges with the trunk at a steeper rake than the current tsx. The C pillar seems thicker.
It definitely looks like a bigger car, in the way that the new 3 series is bigger than the e46. Maybe its the size of the current TL.
One thing I'm happy for: No stupid hofmeister kink and no Bangle influence. I'm tired of car designs being so obviously derivative. I personally don't see an Fusion influence.

Drifting
While I am in some ways disappointed that it's not much more different than the current generation TSX, I am also glad that they have kept some of the design elements that have kept the current TSX so handsome and successful.
More to the point though - this is just a low-resolution photo of a car that is still camouflaged! I really think that one cannot make any final judgment until the final product is out. Often times the real thing is much different than the initial "spy" photo.
Remember how we hated the CRV "spy" shots? Now the real thing looks pretty good to me...

Finally a spy photo of something tangible. Several pages back on this thread I mentioned that the new TSX would be getting bigger (ALMOST current TL size, almost). This photo shows to me that Acura seems to have gone a different route with the TSX than the Sport4 which everyone wanted. Once again, show us something very hot ( HSC concept comes to mind) and then underwhelm everyone again. Hopefully, the TL is the one to go to the Sport4 design. Keep hope alive.

Well, finally some semi-judge-able pictures have come out, and I think its nice going with the G35 route and just changing it around subtly and not making a complete change. As long as it still has a good -bang for the buck- value I believe this will still be competitive in the market.

This car has body color tape over the head/tail lamps and the grill is covered in black tape along with the lower portion of the front fascia where the foglights are located. So why so much guess work, if anyone looks closely enough you can see the resemblance to the Sports4. The headlight tape impressions suggests that they will be similar to those of the MDX. I have a feeling that it will look more like the blue car I posted earlier in the thread.

Finally a factory lip spoiler!!
----
Pretty disappointing
EDIT:
However I will say I find this odd. For all the secrecy of the '09 TSX, Acura let a car go out in public, a week before it's official reveal and didn't even try to hide the fact. (i.e. keep it indoors or on a closed track)
Here it looks like a corporate d-bag sent his man servant out for some Starbucks and gave him the keys to the new TSX by mistake
Maybe this is the old bait and switch

Probably because the 09 TSX design isn't a head turner. Look at it, it reminds me of a CAMRY or an ALTIMA.

this is absolutely ridiculous, i have an 07 tsx and i have been waiting for at least 6 to 8 months to see pictures of this new and "improved" 09 tsx and all they are doing is beating around the bush....basically all the other car companies have shown their 09 models, why is it so damn hard to get us a picture....

Are these ever realy spy shots? Do people stand around waiting for these camo'd cars to drive buy, happen to be doing yard work and have their cell phone camera at the ready or are these staged? The photographer somehow snapped two different angles from different locations.

This might be a dumb question, but what're the chances that this is some kinda of left-over mule or a decoy?
It looks like a hybrid of a 2008 and the TSX from Brenda Priddy's spy photos.
And good lord... if it IS the 2009 and this is a precursor of things to come with the TL, I may just run out and get a 2008 before it's too late!

seriously, i do work next to honda. (that white wall in the 1st pic in the background says "HONDA" on it at the entrance of the driveway) and these kinds of cars are regularly driven on the streets. and i really was just walking outside when i took these pics. i had actually seen it all week and it wasnt until friday that i saw it and decided to take a picture.
the driver happened to be going really slow this time. i took the pic, then i walked up the street to see where it turned, and sure it enough it must have U turned back. and took the second pic.
i kinda laugh at myself for calling these "spy pics" because of the nature of taking a picture of something in public seems silly. its like im a celebrity paparazzi. but really, its not uncommon to see these kinds of cars around.
as i mentioned in TOV, i saw the stretched s2000 test mule driving around and was literally bumper to bumper with it and didnt take a pic, which i got a lot of crap for not doing.
so sorry for the low quality pics, but its all i care to bother to take. hey, it costs me $.99 for every upload from my phone to my email!
