Fog light install problem

I attempted to replace my fog light bulbs using the manual as a guide. I was able to remove the three clips but the cover does not open like shown.

I don't want to force the plastic guard to open but it also looks like the inner wheel well it part of this system. There's also three bolts holding the under skid protection in place. Do I need to remove all of this stuff to replace the fogs lights?

It's a 2012 TSX Special Edition with the ground effects. Could that be interfering with the removal process?

I popped the three clips and pushed the access panel up and in. You can read some trials and tribulations here:

are you able to push it freely towards inside? if so then you just need to gently fold down on the lip and pull out outward like in diagram.

I tried pushing the door in then out and even took out more clips that I thought was preventing the door from swinging open. It seems that the front body skirts/ground effects are blocking entry to the fog light access.
What do I need to remove in order to access the fog lights in the special edition?

circled part is the fog light door where it meets the front lip. It won't swing down.

just take the bumper off, it's a lot easier that way and way less daunting than it seems

I would've just removed the whole front bumper and replaced the fog bulbs by now if you're struggling that much with the access panel.

Counterpoint: If you're struggling that much with the access panel, DON'T go attempting to pull the whole front bumper.

Countercounterpoint: those access panels are significantly harder to deal with than the bumper.

Should be one or two bolts in each of the wheel well, 2 or 3 on the top, a bunch of "bitch" clips aka bumper clips.. from the right and left pull away (to right and left respectively) just under the headlight, pull straight away from the car/headlights to unclip it. Grab the bumper from the top and 'unhinge' it off the radiator support.

done.

Click, save, refer to for all future projects. It's for the Non SE, but the concept is the same.

A moderator really needs to sticky this link for the CU2.

Many thanks, urlblitzer. Was going to post about any tips for removing front bumper, but this may be all the help I need.

Have to replace a broken fog light. It's already getting pretty warm in Phoenix, so, I better get off the couch and get this done before its too hot.
