Car won't start?

Dear Group,

I just purchased a 2010 TSX and love it. I have noticed when I take it out of the garage to move another car (let it run for just a minute or so and turn it off), sometimes it's hard to start the car the second time. Any advice in what to do?

P.S. Just purchased some new wax called Glacier Polish (by Wheel Wax)....this is the best wax ever. I want to give a quick shout out to "TSX1 Boot" for the tip on this one.

I would suggest that you consider taking it to the dealer first. You wouldn't want to be accused of 'causing the problem' by your attempts to troubleshoot.

Been lurking, should be an new TSX owner soon, but had to post. My 2002 Maxima does the same thing. Was it a cool day? It is likely from the car running rich on the initial startup, and then being shut off soon after. It is likely your car is just flooded. Try letting it run a bit longer before shutting it off. My Maxima seems to do it more when it is cold.

I've had this problem intermittently. For three days in a row it wouldn't start at all. It got to the point where I was ready to give up and call a tow truck but then it would start on the last try.

I went to the tile store today to get some tiles for our renovations and when I got in the car it wouldn't start. Just made a clicking noise. When it finally did start it felt really rough for the first three seconds or so.

Good luck. These cars are pieces of shit. Way too many fucking problems for a new car....

Maybe it could be a weak battery?
On all my previous cars with starting issues, it was always the battery.

I tend to agree. There's 'slow starting' and NOT starting. There is a distinction.

It could be the gas in the car. I have had bad batch of gas from a local gas station in my old Civic Si before and had trouble starting. Once I refilled with another brand of Premium gas, everything worked normal again. My mechanic told me gas company reformulate their gas all the time depending on the season. If something is formulated for cold winter weather and temperature suddenly warms up, it could make startup difficult. Then again, a bad battery will do the same thing. Just bring it back to the dealer, it is a new car.

And Lou, sorry to hear all the problems you are experiencing with your car. FWIW, I have just changed my driver side speaker last week and the sound is back to normal.

This speaker thing is tough to figure out. Some seem to have no end of problems while others have none at all.

You might try a tank of totally premium gas

Are you mixing premium with regular gas? Try a tank of full premium to see if it makes any difference. Mine has had this same issue just a couple of times.

On the Glacier Polish, I use it too! Awesome product.

starting an engine cold and then turning it off after a minute is never good for any car. the reason why it starts slower is because the battery is weak from not being driven and just idling, also water can build up. If i have to move a car i usually drive it around the neighborhood and make sure the temperature gauge moves.

Yes, I have been mixing both Premium and Regular Gas. Will try a full tank of Premium. Sounds like you know a little bit about wax, I was thinking about replacing my Absorber. Is there any good products out there to dry my TSX. I don't want to take any chances in scratching the paint, etc..

Hey Karbo, let me know how the new premium gas works for you. By the way, my wife wants to know what kind of nice job you must have to be able to post during the work day!

How did the test drive go with the hot co-ed?

I had my own experience with the TSX not starting. It was so bizarre! I tried everything, even showing it to my gearhead friends. It sounded like it was just about to catch and then it wouldn't. I found my solutions somewhere in the depths of this forum. Basically the car couldn't identify the computer chip in my key. I used the valet key and then suddenly it started fine. And then after I turned it off and put my original key back in it was okay. I had called Acura services for a towing and just called them right back to cancel. Now I always keep my valet key in my car just in case this happens again (so far it hasn't)

^That happened to my friend's Toyota but I never experienced that in my TSX. You are right though, almost all car keys has computer chip built in nowadays.
