Look here:
I'm going to bring /thread to this thread, and here's how...
If you can't meet or beat this:
Then put away the 22" pipe dreams. I see kids riding around on wrong fitments all the time, and honestly all I can do is laugh. They spend money (not enough, but more than they should have all the same) thinking because they have 20's, 21's, 22's, etc. that makes their car suddenly look good. But as you can plainly tell by the pics, it takes a hell of a lot of work, well beyond the scope of the childish 4x4-looking, ill-handling, and frankly DANGEROUS fitments I've seen on this thread so far.
I am nowhere near an expert with fitment, but I do know that these guys, in the above pics, are at least doing it as right as it can be. So, can we just leave it at that?
FYI, most of those wheels cost more as a set than the current MSRP of the best-kept 2nd gen TL. And to wit, our car simply can't support 22's, or barely 20's (though I've seen a couple that managed to pull it off.) 19's would be the smartest, least dangerous limit I've witnessed on this platform, and 18's would be smart for those who "just want a nice fitment", instead of worrying about all the details to make it extreme.
I'm a bit drunk so if I pissed anybody off, I'm sorry but you have to step back a bit and realize that anything worth doing is worth doing right. And putting you and everyone's life who is in your car or near you when your car self-destructs from putting ill-fitting wheels on just isn't smart. Think about it, let's say you have to swerve quickly to avoid something in the road... you pull the wheel, your huge mis-fit 22" tire strikes anything its not supposed to on your car's fenders or whatnot... and WHAM! you're in a wall, with 3 wheels, and probably a totaled car.
