Unable to get into reverse- fuse blown

Alright I want to say first and foremost I appreciate the help. Currently, my car is stuck in park. This has happen to me twice in the past, the first time I replaced the brake light switch that is activated when pressing the brake and the car was fixed. The second time, it was determined that my 3rd brake light was out causing the 20amp fuse to blow that has to do with the brake lights that enables it to get into reverse. Now, the third time, I discovered the 20 amp fuse under the hood was out, I replaced it, and the car was fixed for about 10 hours. I came out this morning with the same problem. Anyone have any ideas of what is causing this fuse to blow so fast? Thanks again

a short in the system!
ck the repair to the 3rd brake light
ck each bulbs connection for crud buildup

if all the brake lights are working, to bypass the system while you diagnose:
insert car key into that small slot on right side of shifter (under a cover)
push down while holding brakes on
move shifter to N
remove key from slot- start car and drive as normal
You will have use of R, but as soon as it goes into P you will have to repeat for next start
a screwdriver works for this too

some have a prob with poor soldering under the fuse box, remove it and ck it out

thanks for the quick response. i learned the hard way last time about the temporary bypass to get in and out of gear. i'm just going to take it back to the mechanic that solved the problem with the short in the 3rd brake light.

Better to have a small screwdriver ready to use it on the Park Release in the Shift Lever...
