see the valve adjust diy, may be part of the 105 service in DIY section, if ours doesnt show it well enough- ck gen3s they have a great pic and torque specs set for the 105 diy/ v adj

basically, remove intake manifold, clean egr port and passage system on it- important!
there are the valve covers- unbolt- carefully clean surface edges for best gasket contact

Ck your valve cover bolts - there is a seal that tends to leak on them

a GO-NO/GO feeler guage is best tool for getting valve adjust perfect
10 bucks at parts store

I would seafoam the oil and drive at least 30 minutes to clean the valve rollers
then change oil and filter while warm
that will help get the best valve adjust,,everything clean
adjust valves overnight cold for correct reading

[Well after reading and doing some research im going to be doing a lot of things to my girlfriends car next summer first the seamfoam and oil. change, then im removing the intake manifold and cleaning the egr port and passage system on it and adding the thermoblok spacer kit, and the same time im doin the valve adjustment and changing the valve gaskets + the spark plugs gaskets and the bolts on them too while im doing that a spark plug change is due is well. My girlfriends car is gonna be a happy camper after all this..

I do however have some questions that i would really appreciate answers and help on first is the valve adjustment i read the diy over and over again the only things that i don't get on that is how do i turn the engine i really need a picture on that or better explanation and how to i turn the pulley to turn it in the correct numbers? Second question would be on how to use the feeler gauge and feeler gauge i really need a picture on that too i really am confused on the sorry i know im an idiot but i really dont wanna mess anything up where exactly do i insert the feeler gauge thats what i dont get other then that the rest im pretty much good with ]

re:how do I turn the engine
Take off the passenger side wheel after lifting the car up on jackstands.
Take off the front cover off the timing belt (this takes a little patience since one of the bolts is kind of a PIA to get to...)
Put a 19mm wrench on the cranckase bolt and turn it until the marker of the cylinder you want to adjust lines up the with TDC maker on the timing belt housing.
Then adjust the intake and exhaust valves for that cylinder.

Re: Seafoam
This is a complete waste of your time and money. ....
After taking off the manifold and valve covers clean them completely and remove all the crud you find from every surface before reinstalling.
Be do not spray any sensors with any type of solvent cleaner..you will ruin them.

several thousand of us will disagree with your assessment of seafoam

It gets places you cant clean by hand, like the entire fuel system, the intake valves backside/stem/seal edge and the piston tops (which are blackened from combustion)
and does some cleaning of the O2 and cat on the way out!

it must be used in higher dose than can says for best results, 2 oz per gal fuel is cleaning strength- do that twice in half a tank and results will be plain to feel and see

Its not meant to clean the valve covers~
but run thru the oil- it will clear out passages and ports, clean egr sliders and restore optimum oil pressure to the system

How is that a waste of money?
