Problem with CD player

Friendz, I have a 2000TL , and I have very annoying problem with my CD player. It takes forever to read recorded discs, and if I skip track, it takes forever before I can listen next track. I read it on web, its a common problem across all 2000 TLs. Is it so? Anyone has any fixes/suggestions to this problem..Plzz help...Thanks in advance.....
If not I may end up connecting a ipod and all those unwanted cables

-Ram

Wow, this problem has never been asked about before. Try a search in the Audio section. BTW, there's ONE cable for an Ipod.

It's hard for you to post without bitter sarcasm, eh?

To the original poster, try slowing your burn speed down to the slowest speed. It will take longer to burn but should give better results. I did this and have had no problems with burned CDs in a factory CD player in both 98 Camrys and 99 Accords.

we all have that problem..........what i do is slow down the speed of the burnig.....and even then will you have the same problem.......but what i also do is hold on to the fast foward button until the track plays. this works on most of my cds.............i would say 85% of the time. if you dont want to deal with it, then i would suggest getting an after market radio.

I've never had a CD player with this issue. Not in my TL, not in my Accords - even back in the 90s. Not sure if I've just been lucky or my burner burns perfectly for these cars.

Your lucky. This is a VERY well known issue with the TL. It went away as soon as the 6 disk came around. this problem while not brought up much now, back in the day was as wide spread as the "tranny" threads.

Angry additional comments

Guyz, I did try to record the CD slowly at 4x (and I tried 2x) too, and on like 15-20 brand CDs. Only one type of brand works good, and it is no more available in market
I tried even the FF button, it works sometimes, sometimes it doesnt. I took it to Acura service, and they say they can't do anything about it. Isn't it annoying a luxury car, with luxury CD system from Bose, doesnt play and they cant do anything about it

You have 3 options.
1. 6 disk (02-03) HU
2. 6 disk trunk changer or aftermarket trunk changer-alpine makes one that works with our hu
3. Aftermarket HU

The Camry (1998) the old Accord (1999) have(or had) factory CD players that play(ed) anything I put in them no matter what it was, brand, color, etc. They would not play CD-RWs, however.

I'm not sure why everyone doesn't share the same luck. I use Windows Media to burn (16-24x), though I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Those were the only brand that would play in mine for about a year, then they stoped. Our HU is a POS.

well after some looking and an epiphany my car will ONLY play the older VERBATIM cds with the blue colored reflector material, where the laser reads it...it was actually after the guy at best buy told me that there was NO difference in new v. old cds, so i did some more looking and SONY is the only remaining brand that i can find that still has this. if you havent tried them, they play in my car now

Yes teh verbatium Blues were the ones i used. Then after awhile and different batches they stoped working. I was sick of trying crap. The best investment i ever did was hands down teh aftermarket HU

i've had this problem since. got some tips from some threads back like 2yrs ago. what i gathered is that the HU isn't happy with the newer cd-rs out there today. it's not just about the burn speed u use, but the max burn speed capability of the cd-r itself. cds normally indicate the max burn speed on their labels. and from experience, those that do not indicate this speed are probably up to 52x. some folks here realized that blanks that had a max burn speed of 16x worked ok. this made sense cos my old cd-rs worked like a charm. but i had serious issues with newer blanks. even the nameless 16x blanks work so it's not about brand name. my cheap solution was to look out for 16x blanks online and stock up on 100 of them :-) but good luck with ur search cos local stores don't carry those old blanks. plus they'll think u're stupid when u tell them u don't want the 52x blanks they sell cos ur stereo is happy with 16x max. my final solution would be to trash the car with all its tranny, stereo, rotor issues and get something that's really luxury.

Crap Acura Bose

Wonderful, the above theory maybe right. The max speed written on CD matters, not the speed it was written with. The 12x cd's I have work like jem, no matter wat brand I tried after that, since their max speed is higher, they wont work. Just a crap, Acura shud fix this for free....Wherez the bulletin ACURAAAAAAAAAA

I also noticed that discs that are colored on the bottom work better. I have tried others where it's just silver and it won't play at all.
