P0505 - Idle
UPDATE
Mechanic says car is still idling badly. Has no idea why. Still diagnosing. Lovely.
Do you think I should go with Ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/233945283051 or go to Acura/Honda OEM Parts Online (cost about $270).........

CAR HAS BEEN PICKED UP FROM MECHANIC
Revving idle is fixed! Mechanic had to obtain a used Honda IACV to fix issue. Once installed, problem immediately went away. Car runs like new!
Mechanic said if your IACV goes, you may get lucky with aftermarket part. If so, great! But if you change IAVC with aftermarket and problem does not resolve, you MUST use Honda OEM.
Mechanic said Honda OEM anytime you need sensors.
New Valve Covers. All new upper intake gaskets. EGR valve cleaning and EGR ports full cleaning. Engine cleaning (valve cover leak mess). New Denso spark plugs. New PCV valve and hose. Used IACV.
Most importantly: I want to thank each of you that went back-and-forth with me in regards to this issue. No matter how stupid my question, you replied. No matter how annoying my question, you replied. You know who you are. And I enjoyed messaging you and reading your replies. I enjoyed learning from you. I see why so many people value their Acura! Car is 22 years old, 225k miles, and it runs like new. It sounds new. It takes off like a bat out of hell. It is just as strong and as straight and as smooth as when I purchased used in 2016. But again, I want to thank you very much for all you have done. I appreciate you. And I wish you the best in all your endeavors, especially anything Acura related. Thank you so much!

I had trouble finding the part in stock. No local Honda/Acura dealers had the part, and several websites had backorder issues. That, and, the ones that I did find were going to take about a week to 10 days.
If problem returns, I will purchase a new Honda IACV.

I called my local Honda dealer for the part# you mentioned (16022-P8A-A03). Guess what? The good news is that they have it in stock, but the bad news is that they want $403.89 plus tax.
The cheapest retail, and still over-priced, OEM 16022-P8A-A03 I could find was $208.80 shipped from Japan arriving between 03-06 Dec if ordered today.

Good luck finding new OEM in the U.S. lower than that, unless you have the 'hook-up'.

Just to add... definitely using an OEM/Denso IACV fixed the same problem I had. I have a 2000 Acura TL and about 1.5 years ago, the symptoms were that when engine was warm and I put in Park, the idle goes up and down. Or when I would approach a stop light, and almost come to a stop, the idle very briefly went up maybe a few hundred rpm's and stays a little high. I replaced the IACV with a cheap aftermarket one, and it did not fix the problem. I purchased another aftermarket IACV and the problem did not go away. I then incorrectly made the conclusion at that time that the IACV was not the problem since I tried two brand new ones. Then I tried other things to find the problem like smoke test, propane test, inspecting every vacuum hose, burping coolant system, electrical measurements, etc etc. I had no success so I just lived with the problem for 1.5 years. Then I came across this thread this past month, and this thread eventually lead to one suggestion to try an OEM IACV. So I purchased a used OEM/Denso one, installed it, and "wha-lah", the problem went away!!! So thanks to all the posts in this thread.
Looking for resolution...
Can anyone tell me if Domenic Ricci ever solved his P0505 issue...
Not referring to screen resolution it is an answer to the issue im looking for...

I know I’m a year too late.. but do you by any chance know where your mechanic got the Genuine OEM IACV? They’ve discontinued it and I don’t know where to get it because none of the junk yards remotely close to me have any car that resembles mine at all.
OK. You are posting in the TL forum and might have better luck in the RL forum. https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-rl-1996-2004-77/
However, it seems to have less traffic than even this forum. Unfortunately the TL parts won't fit the RL and the TL parts are still available right now. I think your best bet is to look for a unit at a junk yard. You might try search car-part.com https://www.car-part.com/
for a used one in your area or see if you can find one they will remove and ship you.

Okay, I will try that and let you know. The only reason I am in the TL forum is because he was having the *exact* same problem as me down to a T, and I was trying to figure out the issue. I’ve been having this issue for a little while and I have replaced the IACV, but I don’t think it is the OEM part, which is why I am trying to find that
I understand. Not trying to chase you from this forum but maybe some expert in that forum can help so post in both forums. I can tell you from my own experience that I tried several of the aftermarket units, I wasn't happy with any of them. I took them all apart and found the OEM to be the best constructed by far. I used the parts from the OEM and the other two units to build one working unit, and it works well. In your place I would be trying to find a used unit for the entire assembly. Unless someone is parting out a vehicle I doubt you will locate a new one from a dealer. Maybe from some company in Japan .
