Perhaps someone here can assist with a nagging problem I'm having with my 97 3.2. For the past several weeks after coming to a stop or being stuck in traffic, my idle will go all the way down to zero and then shut down the engine. I then have to quickly restart the car to get it back going. I took the car to a mechanic and he squirted fuel injection cleaner in the throttle area but it did not solve the problem. Any ideas on what may be causing this? Mileage on the car is about `175,000.

Check PCV valve just in case?

 

Clean throttle plate and throttle bore w/ throttle body cleaner. Clean idle air control valve (IACV) and air passages to/from IACV. Check IACV functions w/ 12V applied. It should click or buzz.
