Junk yards are great for used parts. I bought the entire wiper assembly for $25 Buck for my Accord when the gears failed. As for my TL replacing the Arms and blade assembly (Bosch) fixed everthing and after more than a year, they are still nice and quiet and don't hit the window edge anymore. You can find parts for our TL's at Salvage yards. The wiper assembly is easy to replace.

Question

My wipers do this....

when the windshield is wet and it's raining... the passenger side wiper slams into the bottom edge hard.... pretty awesome lol

When I run my wipers when the windshield is dry or even wet at a slow speed... the right wiper stops short of the proper parked position... it stays about 2.5 inches on the windshield : (

so I'm always trying to time it perfectly with my wipers on high speed and trying to stop it perfectly in the parked position lol...

My tl is a 2000 so I'm sure something needs to be tightened or checked.... Before I get in there, can anyone tell me a good troubleshooting start point or if anyone knows exactly what might cause this?

I don't want to go through the trouble of replacing the entire assembly right now if I can help it... unless it's really necessary

Bad news bro, it absolutely necessary.

Order the parts and do it yourself, don't let the man rape you on something that is time consuming, but not that difficult. Just be easy on everything you you have to take out and replace and you'll be fine.

I'm giving this a shot now and am a little confused. I see 3 little plastic circles and have removed one by prying it off. Underneath there is a little rubber circle, is this the black seal that I should remove?

I'm a little confused at this step if anyone could help.

Thanks Pixrob for the pictures. After reading the post and seeing the pics, I did it in 1 hour. No problems now. $50 parts and shipping. I went online to buy the two rods A/B and saved some cash for some wiper blades.

Does anyone know how to fix windshield fluid doesn't spray? I hear the pump but no water hitting the windshield.

Dude, pixrob, you're a lifesaver. I've been having the same problem and tearing my hair out about it. AAA wanted $700 to fix the problem ($400 parts, $300 labor), which is insane.

After finding this thread, $60 in parts (for the two arms a few of the plastic clips that I broke :p) and 45 minutes later I had it fixed myself.

Thanks again!

Oh, just additionally, for anyone that wants to buy online, Delray (FL) Acura sells parts online.

I used parts 11 and 12 on Front Windshield Wiper. Specifically, you need 76540-S0K-A01 Rod Unit A (LH) - $16 and 76550-S0K-A01 Rod Unit B (LH) - $25.

Double Thanks again!

I just took my Acura TL 2002 to the dealer in PA and they replaced the entire linkage as per the service record. I asked for the part and they didn't provide it. Total was $234 linkage @ $129. I hope they did replace it?

HEHE they probably paid $20 bucks wholesale for the parts and 30 mins to replace them. It cost a lot of money to run a garage. They have to make money. Perfect example of the savings by being able to do car repairs yourself. Everyone can't. It's a $50 fix if you DIY>Glad my father taught me how to do mechanical work on cars and also thank goodness for ACURAZINE>

I need to do this asap. I am always trying to time the wipers so they can stop at the park position, instead of a few inched higher.

The banging wipers make my car seem like is a POS. Maybe I'll do it this weekend since it has been raining down here in Miami.

thanks guys!

after this last snow fall my passenger side wiper stopped working. I can see something turning, but all its doing is loosening up the cap/bolt thing at the base of the windshield.

What should I do? Also, is there any other pictures of the install available, the ones in this thread are dead.

Wiper schematic and parts list

I bought the blades, but realized the issue was not so much the existing crappy blades, but the mechanism.
And jumping to conclusions, I assumed it was the motor. Glad I used the search function! I'll replace the following:

008 76524-SD4-003 DUST SEAL [quantity 1]
009 76524-SE0-013 DUST SEAL [quantity 3]

011 76540-S0K-A01 ROD UNIT A (LH)
012 76550-S0K-A01 ROD UNIT B (LH)

Am I missing anything?

Anyone know if the Accord Rods will fit?

I found this page with the wiper assembly for a 2000 Accord. The parts numbers are slightly different from the TL rod units mentioned above. Does anyone know if they will fit. Trying to broaden my options in junk yard hunting.

Hopefully a related question as people tear the wiper stuff apart and replace things:

I'm following these directions and plan to replace the rods and dust seals. When I took everything apart to verify my problem, I noticed that the gasket at the top of the cowl cover (that presses against the bottom of the windshield) is pretty much destroyed. I figure it makes sense to fix that since I don't know what harm could happen if water rushes down the windshield into there but at the very least it seems like my new wiper parts may get weathered prematurely. Does anybody know if that gasket that goes around the back of the "Cowl Top Assy" (74200-S0K-A00) comes pre-attached to that part? I don't see it listed separately.

Nervous

So, I'm contemplating trying this repair myself. As a preface, the most I've ever done to repair my car is the replace my own wiper blades and check my own oil level. I mean, I'm a complete novice.

I thought I might enlist the help of my neighbor, who is pretty handy, and that we could give this a whirl. I figured if I'm going to do any DIY, this is harmless enough. If I run into trouble, a mechanic could step in - and the car would still run.

I've read this thread a couple of times, and there's a pretty thorough Youtube video on the topic (but with an Accord), but I'm still pretty nervous.

There was some mention of a seal - around the windshield? I will go slowly and try not to screw up any other parts, but will I know if I've made that seal unusable? is this the seal around the windshield itself?

Have a 2001 TL...151k and counting...Similar wiper problem
I turn the Wipers on and they dont stop at the Normal Park position. Sometimes the wipers stop in the middle of the windshield..VERY ANNOYING! When the wipers are on they just dont stop. I have to manually turn to off position to make it stop and put it in the normal park position.

How can I fix this problem? thanks!

Just completed this repair on my '99 TL. Works perfectly. Thanks for the pictures, they really helped. Two words of advise for those that haven't attempted this repair:

1) Take Pixrob's advise and remove the entire assembly from the vehicle before replacing the control rods. It's a knuckle-buster while it's installed.

2) For those (like me) too stubborn to take good advice and remove the assembly, be sure to fasten the top ball joint on the lower arm before fastening the ball joint that fits on the underside of the shared pivot. It is very difficult to get enough torque from your fingers in that limited space to secure the top ball joint last.

Other than that... piece of cake! Thanks again, friends.

wipers hitting drivers side post

I used a shorter wiper. Works fine and not a problem as the shorter wiper cleans almost the same area.
