on the 3G TL...
2 8mm bolts holding each fuel line...take them off....pull the injectors out...
4 10mm bolts hold each runner....space is very tight, i use a small ratchet....remove 1 runner and then the other....if you loosen both runners, you wont be able to pop them out as space is very tight....
done and done....
one tip while putting the injectors back in is, use some engine oil on the rings....it lubes them up and helps them slide back in....

Ive done this before I just removed the front lower intake manifold, I used a 12mm to get it off and that should be enough space to work on the wiring, but be careful with the connection on the knock sensor as mines was brittle and I didnt know till I broke it and needed to replace it also DO NOT let anything drop in the intake put a cloth to cover it. hope this helps

I had to get into the knock sensor about a year ago.
I had to move to maryland for a few months but couldn't take the car with me, so it stayed in CA for a few months in a friend's backyard. When I came back to move the rest of my stuff and get the car, it was throwing codes and one of them was the knock sensor. Only had about 12 hours in town to get my stuff before I drove it entirely across the US back to maryland. Only had a few tools available in my toolbox in my storage unit. Proceeded to take the car apart in the storage parking lot. Found out that rabbits and squirrels had made a nest between my upper and lower manifolds and chewed the entire wire away.
Had to steal wires from an old battery kit I bought from radio shack a few years back and soldered it in place of the missing wire. Got it working within a couple hours. Worst luck I had with rodents, best luck I had with tools and experience available to make the repair.

They left me almost nothing left to work with for splicing the wires.

Haha I didn't put much thought into repellents. Not knowing the properties of moth balls or repellents, I'd be afraid of an engine fire!
geedub, hope you can get it replaced soon. Such a small part but such a pain to get to it.

You guys are going about it the hard way. Take the p/s pump off, two bolts, swing it up out of the way. Remove the 10 mm bolt holding the wire harness and lift it up out of the way. There is a bracket on each head, two bolts, remove them. The knock sensor is right there. No fuel leaks, no gaskets, 45 minutes max.

Ok Iam down to the lower intake manifold. Chasing the broken wire on my knock sensor. Can anyone give me some tips on the removal of the lower manifold

remove the bolts that hold it in place. I never had a issue removing them. Space is limited but it isnt hard.
