help, rpm is not stable

ok. the last time i turned on the car was wednesday morning to repark myself. other than that, it sat there all day yesterday.

this morning when i turned on the car to warm it, the idle was not stable. it kept jumping between 1000rpm - 2100 rpm. it does it quick too. like it'll rev up on it's own to 2100 rpm and then just drop to 1000rpm and does it again continuously. so i turn it off, let it sit for a few, turned it back on and same thing, even after it's been warmed up.

i can feel the idle just dropping when in motion. if i sit there on the brakes and let go it'll just jump to go( guess cuz of the higher idle). and when i start to stop. i can feel it the rpm dropping and kicking back in pushing me further then dropping again....

i went ahead and drove to work cuz i had to be there. it wasn't until i got there when the "Engine" light came on. 5 min later i turned it back on to show somebody, this time, only the engine light is on and the idle stopped doing it's thing, except, this time the idle keeps dropping and dropping, then it starts idling at almost 400-500 rpm.......

anything to help, thanks.

or do you think a simple cleaning of the IAC would work?
or maybe just simply replace it?
i don't even know where it is...

The iac is the part on the bottom of the TB. You can take it off and try to clean it and see if that helps. If not it will have to be replaced

Mine does that every once in a while. I can take a hammer and tap on the throttle body and the problem will go away for a while. I'm assuming I'm getting some carbon build up on the IAC valve.

Dont be hitting those parts with a hammer. You will cause more "Bamage" Try removing ans cleaning. If that doesnt work it needs replacing
