Front window regulator DIY ???

Hello.

My brother's TL (2000) has a problem with his window on the driver's side. It doesn't move up and down even though we can still hear the motor noise. I guess that the window is simply out of the clip on the frame (regulator) inside.

Has anyone done this job? I am looking for DIY or at least a couple of pictures. The one I found on the web is too brief to have an idea.

Thanks.

I'm betting part of regulator lift system is broken

Probably either the cable broke or the plastic cable retainer has broke. My rear window did this.
From what I researched on here and what I saw after taking the door panel off, is that there is no way to fix it, you have to buy the whole assembly and replace it. Cost vary depending on which window, but it's going to be at least around $150.

see phone book ads - call glass places that offer `used auto glass` (often located next to junkyard)
they know what breaks and if they have the part or will need dealer item

happy to sell it to you, or do the work right for not too much cash compared to other shops

This exact same thing happened to my car a few days ago. I finally took the door panel off today and noticed two pieces sitting in the door.

That plate where the cables meet and the white wheel under it. The cable is still in tact. Is this fixable? Is there a way to rethread the cable to the wheel and get that plate back on?
