Driver door handle mechanism going, what am I looking to replace?

When I’m inside the car and pull to open my door, the handle needs to be pulled way out, and at that point the latch just has enough pull to actuate and I can open the door. It feels like this: a ‘cable’ has stretched way out and is slack, and I’m just getting enough pull on the latch, at 110% on the handle. And there isn’t much spring-back in the handle.

Any clue whats going on with that mechanism? I see interior door handles online, and entire mechanisms for sale. Looks like the the entire system beyond the handle is $30 scrap yard price. And aftermarket cheap too.

Thanks for any help.

dont know how it works; but if one wants to figure out what is broken or stretched...it usually involves taking it apart to see what is wrong.

car repairs, or any kind of repair usually involves "visual intelligence" or the act of looking and deciphering the problem.

once deciphered or diagnosed...then one can properly fix or replace the broken part.

Intelligence seems to be an issue period

I’ll be opening it up sooner or later. There’s got to be a DIY video for this.
