I didn't see anything wrong visually. I've been paying extra attention to how many times I turn my gas cap when fueling up(3 clicks only) and the code hasn't come back.

Hi Thin :

We don't really have a choice. Once the RRI (Recurring Revenue Indicator) light comes on, we have to rectify the issue by replacing parts or take it to the stealership and say "do me !". In my case I'm getting a P1457 code which is related to the EVAP canister (I hope).

Code 1457 - Need Help to Replace EVAP Canister & Shut Valve

Hi All :

I sent out this request for help a while ago and have now received the EVAP Canister and Shut Valve parts. Has anyone replaced these parts and can offer any advice ? I'm trying to solve a code 1457 which is a "major evap leak".

Since I don't have any of the required vacuum testing equipment, I'm pretty much going to change out the parts and hope the code goes away, unless anyone has any other ways of testing the system using more common tools. I might even try sucking or blowing into the tubes to see if there are any leaks. Again, I'm very much in the dark as to how this system works and how it should behave.

Any pics or tips would be very helpful.

What year is your TL ? My 02 TLP got the P1457 and I did search and decide to change the Canister set P/N 17011-S84-A00 and Canister Vent Shut Valve P/N 17310-S0X-A02.

It's a very easy repair .

It's a 15 min job . But you have to jack up the car and slice under the rear driver door , look up and you will see them ... unplug hoses and a few 10 mm and replace parts ...

I've got a 99tl. Parts received

17011-S84-A00 Canister Set
17550-S84-A01 Valve, Vent Shu

I haven't been under the car yet to see but I do see a lot of pipe bibs on the new parts. As for the shut valve, it seems to attach or plug into some other part.

I know its not a big job, but if anyone could let me know were the parts are located and is there any gotchas I need to know. Also, with all the valves in the system, have I got the right parts ?

You really have to get under the car and see both parts close to each others,.
Replace one part at the time in order to reconect all hoses back in the right position .

#8 and #5 ....
The only concern is to remove to 2 rust bolts that hold each part to the under chassis.
Other then that is only remove and install .
