Check engine light, and low idle.

I just cleaned the EGR valve and intake manifold. Now the I have the symptoms in the title.

Low idle, and Check engine light.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the help in advance.

possibly wrong retorque pattern and spec?

Have you reset the light/cpu to see if it kicks the code again and also let it relearn with better flow?

I have not checked the torque...

I guess I'll have to do that when I can get my hands on a torque wrench. I haven't reset the battery either...

I disconnected the battery and now I'm going to wait and check it in about ten minutes.

Never know.

And if you didn't use a torque wrench when putting IM top back on that may be detrimental.

I followed the torquing pattern, but not torque spec. Last time I took it off I did not do either and no light then.

Do you think it could be the cleaner I used to clean the IM?

possible but hard to say. I have not done this EGR/IM cleaning yet. Typically vacuum leaks make the idle high, but with the CEL on, the cpu has gone to default settings rather than dynamic.

See what happens with the reset.

Did you use a different type of cleaner this time?

I think that you would be better off with mass airflow sensor cleaner being that it is more specifically safe on electrical sensors.

Hmmm....I really don't think I would have affected any electrical sensors though. I removed the manifold before I began spraying. I don't know what the problem is if this reset doesn't fix it.

could be right, That is just what I would do in fear. If it doesn't reset, then you'll just have to pull the codes. Could be the raw cleaner getting through onto the O2 sensor too. Hard to say.

See what happens with reset.

Also check all the vacuum hoses to make sure there are no air leaks.

Next time a carb/ throttle cleaner would be better and safer for the sensors
