Exclamation check engine light and flashing

i got in my car this morning to go to class and i started up. everything seem normal until i put it into drive and thats when the car started to like kinda putt kinda. i started driving and about two min later the check engine light comes on. after a few seconds after the light went on it started flashing. so i drive the car home and about five hours later i drove it to autozone to get a dtc scan. the scan said i got five codes. P0301,p0303,p0305, those are misfiring in cylinder 1, 3, and 5. the other codes are p1399 which is random misfiring. and i also got a p0300 which is another random misfire detected. do anyone got any ideas what could be wrong. i need the car to drive to school monday and stuff and i dont wanna keep driving the car in this condition.

If you can try and do a tune up this weekend. Plugs, cap and rotor. You do not want to drive with a missfire thats why your check light flashes when it misses. If you continue to drive it you can ruin your CAT converters.

One of your coils is most likely bad. Go buy one coil ($50?) and replace one of your coils, still flashing/running bad? Remove it, put the old one back in, pull out the next one over, try again. Do this until you find the bad one. Do not drive your car while the light is flashing, you will ruin your catalytic converter because you will essentially be dumping raw fuel in it. It's not designed to burn raw fuel.

I agree with gfaze. It must be one of the coils. Even if one of them is dead, all cylinders misfire. I have experienced this first hand, so I am quite sure. I would say that before working on EGR cleaning, try to resolve the real issue first. Good luck...a single coil costs about $45.

For some crazy reason, even though you may only have one cylinder misfiring, the computer will generate multiple cylinder misfires. It's almost always only one though. Try the steps I posted earlier and see what happens.

i agree with gfaze... just get 1 coil clear the light put it in cyl 1 drive it. if the light comes back on check it and if its 1 3 5 again go and put the new one in 3 and so on and so forth til the light doesnt come on. 1 bad coil causes the other cylinders to misfire..

You need to search Misfire. You will see that our cars will show multiple misfires for just 1. Buy 1 coil and start with it (i would start on the ones that show that its misfiring) reset the ECU each time you try it on a different cyl.

Was not thinking your right coil on plug. Another thought could be water big puddle that ypu might of gone through.

That's weird its. But it seems that maybe a camshaft or a crankshaft sensor since its only every other CYL that's doing it.

did you try swapping around coils 1-2, 3-4, 5-6.. reset light and see wut cylinder misfires. its your easiest way. if it still comes up 1,3,5 then try moving around plugs. norrow it down through process of elimination..

Had the same problem, got new plugs, cleaned the EGR, swapped coils (bought a new one), ended up taking it to a garage (my $$$ mistake...) it ended up being 3 bad injectors. The car runs great now, although the VSA and 'triangle' lights are still on...no codes anymore.

Bad injectors can cause it too but it's not likely. It's more common for it to be a bad coil.

You'll have to take it to the dealer for the code under the VSA system

Exhaust filter there trying to rip U off. The only thing that resembeles a filter is the CAT converter. The only other thing that gets plugged op is the EGR pasage ways and that only on high milage vehicles that run dirty(burn oil exesive fuel).

It sounds like they didn't know exactly what was wrong with it since that explanation doesn't make much sense. Take it to a good mechanic/shop and have them do a diagnostic and see what they say. Midas is not the place for diagnostics, just basic maintenance.
