Today, i was accelerating kinda hard and fast after leaving from the movies and all of a sudden i got a Check light. Check Engine light i assume since its got that little engine symbol behind CHECK. What could of caused this to come on and stay on ever since and should i be concerned??? Im currently at 58K miles, oil change will be soon at 60K. Sorry, i was lazy to search. Any help is appreciated.

 

Ur tranny might go out.......bring it to a dealer.....and let them check it out

 

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME????? I HAVE A 99TL that i bought from CARMAX in December of 2004 with only 45K on it. Tranny has been fine for me from what i have expierienced while driving. ARE YOU POSITIVE I NEED TO BRING IT TO A DEALER???

 

There are more reasons, like a bad EG air flow or something else. Whatever it is, you should go get it checked at a dealer cause they know how to check it since well, they got the right tools for it. A diagnostic should cost about 100-200, or at least cost that much in my area. IF you don't wanna spend that money, you can risk driving it still, but you might make things worst and it will cost you more whereas the dealers can fix and repair. Goodluck with everything and hope its not anything with the Tranny, cause that cost alot.

We cant read the cars computer over the inter net, so we dont know. Are there any symptoms? car not run right? Go to a auto parts store and have them read the code for free and come back to us for what it means and how to fix.

Now why in the hell would you say something like that for a check engine light.

 

Good grief. Every time a CEL comes on doesn't mean the tranny is going. They guy should get the scan code by either getting Autozone to read it or getting the dealer to.

 

It's funny, I used to have the problem every so often when I had my AEM V2 CAI (maybe happened 3x in the year or so I had the intake). Sometimes when I'd gun it really hard, the check engine light would come on. I never got it chked out, and I haven't seen the light come on since I put in my CT icebox. I wouldn't worry about it.

 

it could be something as simple as your gas cap not being tightened enough. if you dont tighten it with at least 3 clicks, it can cause your check engine light to come on. i'd check that before anything else.
