Help!!!shifter Problems!!

I have a 2002 Acura TL Type S that I just bought wrecked. The car runs and

drives but I have to stick a toothpick into the hole to the right of the shifter and

depress a button before I can get it out of park. Does anyone know why it's

doing this or how to fix it??
