Automatic Tran Shift Delay

When my 03 TL when cold or after sitting awhile DELAYS when I go from Park to Drive. The engine revs during the short delay, then with a clunk it goes into Drive and shifts through the other gears ok. It consistently does this until warmed up then shifts ok without any problems. After sitting awhile it goes through this again. Fluid level is ok with good color and smell. Anyone know if this is a electronic, solenoid, or transmission problem? I'm off warranty. Anyone have this problem, solutions?? Thanks

Mine doesn't do that and its an 02 with nearly 100K, although I'm less than 3K on the new tranny. 1st tranny didn't do it at all though.

mine's an 02 and I am considering taking it in to get it checked out. If I do get it checked out, I will post the dealer's findings.

If I shift it from P -> D about a second delay with a clunk. If I shift from D -> R a noticeable cluck, and when I put it back to D another delay and a clunk. I don't think it's normal, so I will take it in to get it checked out while still under the extended warranty.

clunks

Clunks don't seem to be normal. Appreciate hearing what your dealer says.

Mine does the exact same thing! Clunks into gear cold. Revs during delayed shifting when cold. I just baby it until warm. Changing fluid did not help. I think it is related to the PCM. Would like solution myself.

most likely the trans and not PCM issue

Mine only happens when it is cold though. Once it warms up, it works perfectly.
