My transmission started slipping when I would accelerate. Before the gears would shift, the engine would rev high before it caught the gear. I took it to the Kearny Mesa Acura/Jaguar dealership and the replaced it, no problems. I had broken a motor mount ($170) and my battery was shot ($110), so it wasn't necessarily free but things that needed to be replace. I guess the transmission has its own ECU, and they didn't want to mess it up with an old dead battery. But the service was great; I got a courtesy 06 TSX to drive around. No navi and it was slow, but the gas mileage was awesome and it came with XM. I feel bad about everyone's nightmare stories about their trannys but I guess I got lucky.

 

The trans shares the same ECU with the motor and a few other systems that are integrated into it. Glad your experience was good. As it should. Mine were always like that

Ya, I received paper work about the class action lawsuit against Honda and it implied that there MIGHT be a recall, and it is for my car with less than 96,000 miles. So I went to Acura to get it flushed when I knew it was slipping, and they checked out the recall, test drove the car the next day and called me for the wheel locks to replace the tranny. It took from Thursday to Tuesday, and I could care less if they took an extra day or two cuz they gave me a courtesy car. So if you’re in San Diego, own a TL, check out Kearny Mesa. I have gone there to buy little things from their parts department and haven't been disappointed yet.
