Hi, I came across a 2000 TL for sale in my area for $700. The seller mentioned that the only problem with the car was the starter. If that's all it takes, then it sounds like a pretty good deal for a car with 200,000 miles. I am pretty mechanically able so changing the starter wouldn't be much of an issue for me. My only issue is, how can I check on other potential problems with this car if it won't start? What are some things to look out for for this particular model? I'm guessing the transmission is the main thing but other than that I am not too sure about these cars. I have owned Hondas my entire life so I can't imagine that these would be too different. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

 

For that price it sounds like the transmission either might be dead or is on the fast-track there - still though, dirt cheap for a pretty cool car, assuming you can do a transmission swap if needed.

 

That's a pretty clever sales tactic...disable the starter so you can't confirm it's properly running
