I own a 2002 tl type s with 68k. So my sister took the car out to balley fitness to work out. Prior to leaving the gym, she decided to turn the A/C on while the car was parked. I do not know why but while the A/c was on, she decided to turn the ignition off. Then she tried to ignite the car and what do you know, the car won't start. According to her, the battery was dead and lacked energy to start the car. Eventually she had to get the car jumped in order to start the engine.
Does the car battery die if you shut the engine while the A/C is on? I'm aware that it is not good for the car to shut the engine while the A/C is on. Is there direct relation? What could be the problem?

 

sounds like there is mor to the story than what she is saying. Sounds like she was running the fans and radio with the car off. It doenst hurt to shut the car off with the ac on. Tell your sister that if she wants cool air and is going to be sitting there to leave the car running. Also your battery if orriginal may be loosing its ability to hold charge

 

Agree- likely culprit is battery if original

most 01- 02 owners have reached the life limit and will be amazed how much better
the car runs with a strong battery

The cars electronic systems that make it run- depend on a good battery to make all that happen
The alternator replaces-recharges the used up energy from the battery

Everything starts there, buy a good one- Optima top of the line, most anything will do in a pinch
If over 4 years on battery- you are overdue!
