Transmission Issues?

Hey all. I am a fairly new driver, so I can't say I know all that much about cars. Today on the way to a store I was accelerating and the car shifted from 2nd-3rd, however it continued on in second for about 1k RPM's, without accelerating (lack of power?), before catching third gear. Is this considered slipping, or is it something completely different? I would hate to be without a car, but I want whatever is wrong fixed!

First thing to do is register the car at www.acura.com ownership experience and call acura at 1-800-382-2238 x5 and give them your VIN number

they can tell you when car was first date in service- thats what warranty is based on
then read the thread on transmission failures and drop the car off at dealer

The car just hit 98,000 the other day, it is nine days out of the extended warranty we had, however it's still covered under the transmission warranty.

Just fyi, I've scheduled to take it in thursday, though they are saying they can't give my mom (the owner of the car) a loaner, unless I can make it to the 10th, which as I'm reading the transmission failure thread doesn't seem likely. I am really hoping to get rid of the car once the new tranny is in!

Unless you have beat the car - the replacement trans will make it like new again- keep it !

Have Mom take it in and plead for loaner- they can get one from enterprise if theirs are all out
Contact the Service MANAGER- the writers are just salesman of car repairs and you are there for a freebie

Called the number you gave me, thanks! I really do like this car, however unfortunately the leather is looking like crap, the gas mileage sucks, and it's just too big of a car for me really. I was originally supposed to get a 2005 Civic, which is what I like, but I still do love the TL.

Well join the TL owners club again when gas is cheap or you have cash!
In the meantime- selling a TL with a fresh transmission- thats a $4000 item
So you can ask top dollar and get it and invest in econo car for a while longer
Spend some time with a tub of leather conditioner and make the seats good again

Hurry back!
