at the track

^i forgot but what car did you have? people say i get slow time because of elevation. there was this one corvette (06+) at the track and he said he runs almost a second slower than what he does at sea level.

All of you guys are so funny!!!! I can't believe only 1 of you people out of everyone in this thread knew the answer as to why he runs low 17's. Crazymonkey is the only one that knew it? I am suprised. Anyway for the facts: He ran a 17.2 due to the altitude. The track that he ran at is 5200+FT above sea level. Factor in pressure, humidity, temperature and I bet his DA is way above 6000ft. His 17.2 is normal there. At sea level he would be in the 15's. Even here in Tucson where I run its 3075ft and the DA was 4200ft on the day that I ran. At sea level I would run .8 tenths of a second faster and add about 5MPH for my time. It is easier to correct your 1/4 mile time if you know the DA, which there is a calculator for on dragtimes.com. You need to know the conditions of the day which you can find out online. type in the info into the calculator and it will give you your DA. then you type in your 1/4 mile time and MPH and it will show you an estimated time that you would run in more optimal conditions.
OP- There is nothing wrong with your TL. That is normal for Denver!

force inducted cars are not as affected by the altitude, but they still lose power also

This is very true!

its not just .8 tenths of a second here.. he is 1.5-1.75 seconds off... thats more then elevation IMO.. but i guess we'll never know really.

I don't think you completely understand. The .8 tenths of a second was my correction for my 1/4 mile time. I was showing an example of what elevation, DA, humidity, temperature and other conditions do to 1/4 mile times. My DA was 4200+Ft. His DA is going to be 6000ft +. His elevation at the track is I think 5200ft. He can find out what his exact DA is and that will determine the correction factor. 1.5 - 1.75 seconds off is normal for him at the track in Denver. So in reality we will know if he does the correction. He just needs to use the dragtimes.com calculator and he can get the conditions of the day he ran and enter in his elevation. that will give him a correct time for sea level and optimal conditions.

track would be Bandimere Speedway; here is a straight link to their site:
http://bandimere.com/services/trackFacts.php
and the track is at a elevation of 5800' by their data
BTW: the grass next to the track in the picture is never that green

yeah my old 94 accord lx auto could only run mid 18's here iirc (i know it was in the 18's though) completely stock with the motor running good (and only like 85k miles on it too)
and that was with torque braking (loading the toque converter up to stall speed) the tranny too, before launching
