pics of my A/V install

finally setup the deck and installed the DVD headrests. tried to do the DIY EQ bypass for the stock sub but couldnt get access to the EQ so i just ran RCA's and remote wire so when im ready ill install an amp and sub. this is the frst thing i did to this car, but definitely not the last. its my family car, so plans are some lowering springs/shocks, tint, wheels and debadge. anyways, heres the pics...

lol ya sorry about that haha. no the deck is an alpine 9885 ipod deck. the dvd headrests are individual players. theyre awesome, they come with a disc that has 200 Nintendo games on it, remote controls, game remotes, sd slot and external hookups for any other gaming system. i will eventually throw a 360 or ps3 in there. definitely great bang for the buck at only 2oo bucks for the pair.

there is no point in throwing a ps3 in your car.
unless you have monitors that can truly take advantage of all the resolution the ps3 can offer.

ebay! yes i installed them myself, super easy, run the wires to power and ground, they play seperately.

only reason i would put a ps3 in there is for road trips. im not concerned about resolution, it will look really crisp on these screens, im sure of it.

what is the resolution on the screens?
im sure its no where near 1080p.
lol less than 480p, i'm sure.

I'm sure it will play, but whats the point if you cant get the full potential out of the machine.
you would probably be better off playing the games that your monitors came with.

How does the audio work? Does it only come through the headrest DVD players or the full car stereo?

I'm with justnspace, unless its a full blown show car with lcd panels that can handle the full resolution, it wouldn't be worth it....especially on a 6-7" screen.

its worth it to my kid that doesnt care about the resolution, just that he can see it and it works. the resolution im not sure about but its good enough, dvds are very sharp. they have their own speakers which arent great but sound can be ran through the headunit. i didnt want to run them through the HU so i can still listen to my own stuff while hes watching his kid movies.

you guys dont seem to understand the premise to using a gaming console in my particular car, my 2 year old when hes old enough to play video games, wont give a shit about what the resolution is like. the brand of dvd players that these are are sony, the company that makes the dvd/headrest combo is senville.

edit:by the time i actually do put a game system in it, a ps3 will be almost obsolete and cheap as hell, so why worry.

No I get it lol. It's your daily driver and you have a son who needs to be entertained. Its a simple concept lol.

most of us here think more in the vein of the most aesthetically pleasing items in our cars. but like with everything in a daily driver, practicality is key.

and i personally think you did an excellent job installing them. do they have a pass through though so if you had installed them to the HU if headphones were used they'd only send the audio there?

dont you think the gaming system that came with the monitors will work just fine for a 2 year old who cant even play video games yet?
Just sayin.
hell even a ps2 would be better.

the ps3 will not be a great in car system. I've already thought about it in my 3G TL. Cool, yes. but car technology has a long way to catch up.

Also, you say you want it for road trips, but what do you need it for on road trips, exactly?

^he never said that he's going to do it now...it's an eventually...

and i mean what's it matter? if he wants to put a ps3 in there, it's his choice no?

I'm all about high resolutions (I have two 1920x1080 monitors) but i mean i guess it doesn't really matter right?
