XS Headers OR DC SPorts Headers

Hi, Happy New Year
Its my Time for a MOD .... i have been learning for both DC and XS headers both have cons and pros. I have TL-P 2002 ... i heard XS are designed as Comptech headers so i think they would be better for me to buy. But why are DC SPORTS HEADERS are more expensive than XS Headers?

Well I have DC, but if i had to choose again i would probably buy XS. Make sure to buy better gaskets, preferrably copper ones if you go with DC. DC headers are ceramic, so they will control heat better than XS headers, but i hear that they can get discolored easier. There has also been a lot of fitment issues with DC, some have been sent sets that are about an inch short on the downpipe so they don't bolt up to the header. I was lucky to not have this problem, but a person i know had the issue. XS have less issues so far, and their price is so much better, so i would go XS if i had to choose again.

XS is probably the best bang for your buck. Solid quality, and lots of good reviews from people on this forum. They're essentially replica's of Comptech headers, which are probably the best headers for our car.

I went with DC, and as HockeyMan stated, I had some fitment issues with mine. Not necessarily that they were short, but that I had resonance/leaking issues. Supposedly copper o ring crush gaskets solve this problem, but I haven't had the time to try them out.

If I could do it over again, I'd probably go with XS.

XS headers have had some great reviews, kinda makes me wish I had saved the money and bought those instead of my comptech

XS header. I like the stainless steel and it's much cheaper.

The underdrive pulley is a smaller diameter pulley that will give 10-15 hp at the crank. You don't need the pulley set because the PS and ALT pulley don't make a difference. UR is the best brand and Excelerate sells them.

Thermoblock spacers have no HP gain, they just help with heat, so they free up HP lost by heat. I'd say maybe 5 or so HP if your lucky.

Any other mods besides CAI/Exhaust , like intake Manifold or Camshaft or sparkplugs which give me some power. I wanna wait until i can get as much HP out as i can before deciding whether a supercharger or a turbocharger

Headers and the pulley are great to start. I would go with a CAI before spacers. For a few dollars more than the spacers you'll get better results with a CAI...plus a nice sound under the hood.

How About Megan Headers

Can anyone help ? Some say XS or Comptech headers. Does anyone know about the Megan racing headers batch 4. I was thinking about it because of the price ( $200- $300 ) . Has anybody experience this set of headers for the TL. Appreciate the feed back.

get XS, Megan has a lot of known issues like resonance due to the extra flex pipe.

I was just curious. What are the gains with the XS headers? has anyone done a dyno with them on? or are they the same gains as Comptech headers?

Fill in with what you know.

Search is your friend.

But just to answer your question, the gains are similar to that of most headers. Around 20 hp to the wheels. (Give or take a few hp depending on condition of your engine)

You mean 20WHP or 20HP? cause if its 20whp, Thats some GOOOD Mod for 150$. I think every 1 can do that mod.
1 question, Can i do Comptech Icebox , XS Headers, UR Pulley , Thermoblock Spacers MOD at the same Time. I am thinking to save and buy all that at the same time and put them on same day or 2 days depends how long it takes to put all that on.
Also please let me know how much will be the price to put all that together. And how much HP am i looking at? and Will this affect my Tranny?

yes it's 20 hp to the wheels meaning 20whp. of course you can do all of that at the same time and have a major improvement instead of doing one by one.

let's say XS=$150, icebox=$260, pulley=$170, spacers=$100(?)
thats about almost $700 plus installation. you can do all this yourself too. and i dont think it will hurt the tranny.

Headers took me 3 hours, Icebox took me 2 hours - have not done pulley - not sure I would tackle that one - Headers and Intake are not that involved...

I Got my Pulley Shipped from Excellerator (Thanx to Him) and also got my XS Headers from Ebay. Awaiting to get Thermoblock Spacers next week and save up some after paying college for IceBox. Than take it all to the Shop and tell them to do ALLL that for me . Are there any other Bolt On Mods Left?
Is there any modifications to put a TL-S manifold into a TL-P and will that give me some power?

The gaskets given by most (all) companies that are sold with headers are all of really poor quality. Most companies are seeking to cut costs somewhere, and well for companies that make headers, it seems like bolts and gaskets are a good way to cut costs.

I read somewhere that copper crush o-ring gaskets are good buys. Don't know where to get them though.

You can buy new OEM gaskets from Honda.

Some people have reused the OEM gaskets without problem, but your luck may vary.

By "better gaskets" what people mean is that you should look for gaskets that are better than those included in the XS header kit, which are reportedly of poor quality and made out of recycled battery wrappings.

So get new OEM Honda gaskets or reuse what you already have.

You DONT Need better gaskets. Reuse the OEM manifold gaskets. and use the o ring gaskets supplied with the kit.

As for bolts, you can get them at any hardware store, lowes, depot, parts stores. Look in the other threads for the size
