XLR8 Mounts

XLR8 Mounts
I purchased XLR8'S street mounts, and I have the shop calling me back saying that those mounts won't fit my car. Is this because of a visual difference of the mounts, or because XLR8 possibly sent me the wrong thing? Feedback appreciated.

Did the shop tell you why they wont fit? Which one wont fit? all of them or just one? can you get more info?

When I went to go pick it up today (got the tranny rebuilt) all that he said was,"There's no way those mounts would have fit on that car." I do believe he was mislead by the different look of the mounts as compared to the OEM ones already installed. The mounts I have from XLR8 are exactly as the photo shows on their website, as also they're correctly labeled on the box. I suppose I'll try to install them myself at some point, but my current jack stands are holding up a Bimmer that is being worked on.

Your mechanic is a dumb ass. He could have easily measured height and seen they were same. Then removed the front one cause its super easy and compare the bolt holes. I sure hope your trans is ok..

And why with the motor out couldn't he compare them to see that they'll fit?? This is not a top notch mechanic at all! I had a decent mechanic back when I drove a Ford but after all these horror stories I read on AZine, I'm reluctant to hand my baby over to anyone anymore.

Hey MilDave......these newer gen dealer mechanics are actually in reality: "technicians" who prefer to plug and play !
The old school common sense of mechanical components wearing out, took a back seat to the latest technology with
the Extended no maintenance, 100k mindset. After that, they really want to put you in a new car ! It's really difficult to
find a top notch mechanic.....if ya do find an honest one, they're worth every dime of their hourly rate.

When I went to college for auto tech way back when we learned how to actually troubleshoot and find the problems and use common sense to fix it. To this day one of my mottos is still KISS: keep it simple, stupid. I left the dealership because of the BS politics you're describing. "Tell them it will be hard to fix so we can sell them a new car" When I wouldn't rip people off they put me on tire recall duty. Replacing and destroying Firestone tires from the recall and oil changes. That's the main reason I would never go to a dealer to fix anything. Now my job is to make it work no matter what, I love it.

Update:Front Mount is on, but realized XLR8 only sent me one bracket so I can't put the rear on yet. Also, side mount is not lining up at all. Even with excessive prying it just doesn't seem it will come together.

All mounts should be installed individually and the motor should be supported while the installation is being done. Install one mount at a time and hand thread the bolts. Do not tighten anything down until you install all 3 mounts.
