Wrapping headers

Hi. Is there anyone wrap your headers? I have read a lot positive and negative on other forum but not here. I'm getting CT headers and it is worth a try? Thanks.

You have to be careful when u wrap headers. Sometimes the added heat will cause them to crack. With ct headers u can but not needed

i do not think it is worth doing - if anything free up the rest of the exhaust a bit with a more open cat to get rid of the heat quicker

it has to be done perfect on the bends, spacing/overlapping is critical
if you have an area with less coverage or exposed pipe- the increased internal heat tends to burn a hole right thru!
thats based on motorcycle experience, car headers may be thicker

Dont use if you have oil leak issues (not usually a TL problem, again the bikes and flammabilty)

look at pics of race cars with it for referance of quality installation

Thanks. I'll do it with care. First paint it with heat resistant paint on the headers then wrap and top it silicon spray. I live in dry climate so moisture is not problem only heat like Cris mention.

ck the wrap directions

you may not want to paint the surface, and they make a special spray to protect the wrap from water and road crud..
see jcwhitney.com for details,,I bet utube has lots of vids

thats the new thing for custom bikes too., ceramic coating keeps the heat inside
the pipes and improves engine performance,
while the outside always looks nice AND you dont get leg burns~

Thanks to Tom and Cris. I'm leaning to do ceramic coating only without wrapping actually. It look like more reliable than heat wrapping. What kind of ceramic coating products will you recommend?
